Does anybody know the rules regarding keeping a hangun in your vehicle on a college campus in Texas? I do not have a concealed carry license so I know I couldnt carry a handgun, but would keeping it in a locked box/glove box in my car get me in trouble as well? Having trouble finding a straight answer on the web.
Appreciate any feedback.

You are good. You do not need an LTC to keep a concealed pistol in a car. (So long as you are not a felon or gang member) To carry on campus you would need your LTC and it would have to be concealed... don’t think you can open carry on campus.
The college can’t tell you you can’t protect yourself on the way to school or work. Example...if you had to drive thru a real bad neighborhood on your way to get to the college. Same thing applies to your employer. They may not allow you to bring them into the building, but they can’t tell you you can’t have them in your car.

Read somewhere on the web that although you can have it in your car and drive onto campus, you are prohibited from storing it there (seeing as i live on campus it would have to be “stored” within the car), could you confirm or deny this? Not sure how credible my source is, but better safe than sorry.

Well...It’s been a couple years since I went thru the instructor school for LTC... oddly enough, I think this exact topic/question came up during class. (Sorry...I’m not teaching classes anymore and haven’t really kept up with it). I think you are okay, but you should reach out to the regulatory services division and they will be able to get you a straight answer. Good luck and let us know what you find out https://www.dps.texas.gov/rsd/contact/

Depends on the College. TCU has 30.06 & 30.07 signs on all their parking areas. In the TCU laws, they waiver keeping a firearm locked in your Vehicle as long as you are Licensed.

Im pretty sure when I took the class schools were discussed and the instructors response was if its in your car or concealed on your person its ok, but you not suppose to take it inside of a public school university etc. concealed or open carry at all.

Appreciate any feedback. At Texas A&M and all Texas Public Universities, you may carry concealed. This went into effect two legislative sessions ago. There are certain buildings that are prohibited on each campus and are posted with signs saying as much. You are allowed to leave a weapon (handgun) inside of your vehicle per Texas state law as long as it is concealed and there is nothing preventing you from legal firearm ownership. If you have any specific questions or I failed to answer your question correctly feel free to PM me.
I wish stupidity was not so handsomly rewarded.
