I’ll be hunting near Gustine. Is the rut on in Comanche County?

I don't know about Comanche county, but on my place in southwestern Palo Pinto county, the bucks are really chasing the girls. Should be a good opening weekend.

Our place is between Comanche and Gustine on county road 304 and as of last weekend it didn't appear the bucks were chasing yet. I'm heading out there again today so we'll see if something has changed. Where's your place exactly?

I just help buy some corn here and there, and help out with gas. His property is located a few miles North of Tx 36 off of FM 1702

That's the best kind of friend you can have. You guys must be on one of the places right where the hills begin to start - Beautiful area. Let me know if you have any luck out there. I've been trying to find people nearby for the last few years that I can share hunting info with.

They're chasing in Erath. Been watching them for the past few days.

I’n Kicking myself. Less than 30 minutes in this morning’s hunt I see a nice buck. I just wasn’t sure if legal. Still I could tell the rack was very nice, and within range. Eventually it ended up near the fence line at which time I started to think it was plenty legal. Now it’s at the fence line and jumps it. I keep watching it. And finally get a view that tells me it is legal. Now all I could do was watch it and hope it crossed back over. Well it didn’t. Bummer. It was at least a 8 pointer maybe more. Bummer, and I doubt i’ll See such a nice one again today.

Weve got next weekend if it doesn't get rained out! Bucks were chasing does-hard, in the morning opening day. Blank in the evening (mystery deer right at dark walking back) rain at night, blank in the morning (mystery buck in woods that never came out). Headed back home with the kid for work and school early, yes, I know I wont shoot anything in my living room ...Good luck everyone!

I hunt just about 4-5 miles from Gustine just off 1702 and 2486. No chasing going on. We do have bucks hitting the feeders though.
