Anyone have success adding bigger pipes around tri-pod feeder legs (attached with a string/rope/etc)? I've seen several forums/videos of people that have installed them but not much information on whether they really work or not.

PVC helps but won't stop them 100%.

Had the best luck with 4" PVC. 3" they could still climb.

A raccoon has nothing but time to figure out a way around just about anything you try. Some of the newer style feeders that have a large double plate that is sandwiched above and below the spinner plate works well to keep them tearing up the feeder and wasting corn. Still need to manage the problem...trap as many coons as you can.

Duke's Dog Proof Traps with a sardine or two!!! Takes some time, but well worth it....

I put 4" pvc pipe that is 40" long, held up with two small chains. Has worked on three of my feeders. The 4th one, I got one photo of a coon up top. So, yes, it worked for me. The bottom of the pipe is about two feet off the ground.

I use dog food in mine, caught dozen or so (and a couple skunks) no longer see coons on camera.

I use corn in my Dukes dog proof.
Not uncommon to trap 4 - 8 out of 10 traps I set.

The only long term results comes from reducing population, and that takes routine trapping.

I never caught a skunk, half dozen or so squirrels, one porcupine, one bull calf's tongue.

I always wondered how well the pvc pipe trick works as i would think they can get a rope to wind around the leg. I was wondering if anyone used a bungee cord instead and if this would cause the pipe to always rotate and/or launch said coon off the leg for cool game camera pics....lol on a side note, my parish always does a wild-game dinner and i have been teasing them about cooking them up a few coons. What do they actually taste like? I am sure my are about 90% corn fed....

Eliminator plate and forget about it. They'll lose interest

almost true but you dang sure better have the screws very tight with lock washers holding the timer box to the bottom of the feeder. Also do NOT use the plastic funnels on the bottom of the feeder.

I now have varmint cages and PVC pipe and a few Eliminator plates ... where there is a will, there is a way for the little varmints! I have one tall winch up feeder with Eliminator plate and every time I go to fill it up, there is about a 2 gallon bucket of coon poop on top of the barrel.

I like the thought of using a bungee cord.

As per stx, the varmint plate or plates work very well. I have one 55 gallon barrel that has the eliminator spinner. I made a plate out of an old barrel lid that could be used with the eliminator, cut a 6" hole in the plate for the spinner to function. Bottom of barrel serves as top plate then the one I made is the second. Use the 4 bolts that hold the timer box in place to hold the varmint plate.

Eliminator plate is worth the money

Or just corn from your feeder in the Dukes.

E plate will bring it almost to a screeching halt and the Dukes will take down the numbers to save further damage. Effective combo.

glue carpet tack strips to the legs on 2 sides..... they learn real quick not to climb legs
