I have been looking for a bow to start bow hunting next year. I'm not extremely knowledgeable about archery and archery equipment. I'm not real familiar with Parker bows. But, I found a deal from a Parker rep for a Parker Poison 30 for $375 new and in the bow. I looked it up and it sells for about $790 so I figured I better jump on it. Any considerations I should make about setting it up. I want to find a sight, but I'm not sure what kind. Need to get a peep sight installed. Anyways its basically a bare bow. What steps do I need to do to set it up. It's already at my draw length and draw weight.

Pick out a sight, there are lots of options and I would say for that ow to get a drop away rest. The peep and rest are easiest installed by someone at a shop that knows what they are doing. very easy and quick if you have a press and know what you are doing. Peep sight height will need to be set for you and your anchor point with the release you will be using, oh if you do not have one a release will make it much more accurate for you shooting your bow.

Stabilizer can improve shooting and make the bow a little quiter by absorbing some of the vibration from shooting. Not really necessary for hunting accuracy to say 30 yards but doesn't hurt.

At some point you will want a quiver but not required just getting started.

Take it to your local bow shop and have a QAD rest put on it. Pick which ever sight your budget can afford and have them set it up for you. Most shops will even walk you through the basics and watch you shoot a few times.

As said above, go to your local bow shop. They will set you up with a sight, correct length and spine arrows, rest, peep, silencers, field points and broadheads. As for which sight, arrows, rest, and broadheads, You will get a different answer from each person. Personally, I like fixed broadheads, because they never fail to open. I currently shoot G-3 Montec. Find a good local shop and support it. They will be your best friend getting you started.
And then, practice your butt off.

You don't have to spend hundreds on a sight either. You might want to look for a used one someone is selling and get a good deal. Also, you need to look into arrows and broadheads. Lots a good options and everyone has their favorite. Im personally an Easton arrow and Rage or G5 broadhead fan.

I shoot G5 fixed broad heads as well. I recommend not cheaping out on the release. Look for a wrist strap that has a belt buckle instead of velcro.

Good advice on the release, get a buckle if using a wrist release, you will wear out a few velcro releases before needing another buckle strap release. I shoot better with a 4 finger release like the Trufire Edge but to each their ow. A bow shop should have a few to let you try before making that decision
