From Pratt to Ashland. Any good looking area between and south of the line.

There is also some good public land in north central Kansas, around Marysville. Scour the WIHA atlas (https://ksoutdoors.com/KDWPT-Info/Locations/Hunting-Fishing-Atlas/Fall-Hunting-Atlas)... each tract is annotated with the most likely species to inhabit it. Once you get past Thanksgiving, there isn't a ton of pressure on WIHA. The locals tend to key more on pheasants, anyhow. Good luck!

For you guys that have been in SW KS during the season, not during the opener is it hard to find a hotel in some of the smaller towns? I'll be traveling around hunting and don't want to book too far in advance. Or do I need to go ahead and pick an area and get hotel reservations?

Thanks

Gun's don't kill people. The Government does.

I killed eight gophers last year and a purebred Tennessee walking horse that was looking at me funny.

This will sound dumb but just depending on how far you want to drive it's easy to find a spot. Just look at where you're going, call ahead that day and say hey I'll be there this evening or whatever and you should be good.

When in Kansas...knock on doors. I had many deer stands all over Kansas from knocking on doors. Most of them are still hanging in trees I suppose, over 10 years later. I had family members actually fighting over me to shoot deer on their places. Only so much time to hunt and it was 5-7 hours from where I lived in Colorado. Same in parts of Nebraska.

Just like Jesus, sometimes you gotta kill some hogs.
