In search of 6.5 rem mag shells. Can get them online for $60-$70/box, I’d rather not.

I'm always confused by "shells" with reference to rimmed or centerfire cartridges. Do you mean ammunition or brass for reloading?

Sorry for the confusion, either or really but I was referring to ammunition.

Holler at Chad. Bet he can neck down some .300 Win Mag, and load what you want. It will be much more consistent ammo than any of the big manufacturers would produce.

I can load any bullet you want. I have plenty of 6.5 Rem mag brass in stock.

tx...

When you get that ammo, you ought to save the brass and try reloading with a very simple loader like the Lee Loader Kits. I specifically mention this kit as you will easily recover your purchase of this vintage set of tools if you move on with factory ammo or advanced reloading tools.

The Rem 660 was common here in South Texas when I was a kid; I think the 6.5 was seen as a 270 Win in a carbine length barrel. In the mid 90's I was the guest of a ranching family that still solely shot the rifle/cartridge, but they were concerned about the lack of factory ammo. As a gift for their hospitality, I found kits, brass, the original Remington bullet in bulk packaging (1K), and all the various components which got them started. They still knock out what they need as a family activity and there is no telling how many whitetails and hogs have fallen to their effort.

I've done this with several ranchers in my area, guys that are never going to be what we think of as "reloaders" with benches and tools. Rather, these guys are just hunters shooting cartridges that have gotten expensive to shoot or that might be impossible to find factory ammo for. They want one load that they can hunt with, and they build their own ammo when it is needed. I've taught several to reload on the tailgate of their truck, sight the rifle in, and then they kill a great buck on their land that evening. They are sold but never becoming a typical reloader, rather just never depending on the store shelf again.

I PM'd you a link from a source that has a kit. They appear on eBay but become too competitive.

Thanks ranch dog! i appreciate the information and i am definitely going to check this loader out. I have been saving my brass with hopes of reloading one day. I love this caliber and i love the gun. My happens to be a model 600. I did just score 80 rounds off gunbroker by pure luck. Anyways thanks again!
