I hunt them all. But my favorite has to be gamble quail. Not only the challenge of the bird itself I love the high desert habitat there in. I like rocks, climbing hills, knee high cover, the smell of sage brush, wide open habitat, 50 bird covies.

What about you

Bobwhite quail. Like Huns but there are not enough of them.

I'm like you and will hunt them all, but by far my favorite above all others is pheasant! There is just nothing like the flush of a cackling rooster exploding out of cover on a crisp morning! Not to mention the sheer beauty of a rooster, and for me nothing compares.

I have heard all kinds of story’s that blues will run your dog to death. I’m here to tell you that 68 Rustbucket’s Dogs are some blue quail finding animals. I’m not sure if it was the day, the hour or tide, but I witness a Brittany, and two pointers put the hammer on some blues! And fingers crossed, my go pro will record such a site this winter!

I've heard of encircling them with dune buggies. I would like to witness this. From a long way's off.

I'm there for the dogs, not for the birds.

I don’t care what kind of bird they are as long as there are plenty of them. I like to watch dogs work birds, I like to shoot them, and I like to eat them.

Dove, Quail, and Pheasant. Always heard Teal were fun to hunt... never been. Went Sandhill hunting once and will do that again.

Hmmmm...

I'm having to think about this one.

I think I'd have to say teal. It's like dove hunting on roids. However, I'm going on my first crane hunt in a couple weeks and I hope I'm not building it up too much but the thought of those big suckers decoying in on top of me is getting me pumped.

I've never gotten to do much upland hunting, other than doves. I did hunt pheasants in Iowa once and that was a good time.

My favorite so far is shooting ducks in flooded hardwood timber. Nothing quite like it. That said, I love to watch dogs work, whether is pointing birds, picking up dogs, penning cattle, etc. Love to see a well trained dog do its job.

I like all of em.
3rd choice is Woodcock. They hold well, often resulting in up close, intense pointing. It takes a biddable dog that can adjust its range to the cover in order to keep up with the hunter. Self hunters need not apply. The Woodcock puts a higher premium on shotgunning than any other bird I have hunted. I like that they force you to up your game or go home empty handed.

2nd choice is Pheasant. Some of the finest dog work I have witnessed is a pointing dog working a runner. Pointing, repositioning multiple times, before finally pinning it. Maybe the best show, to watch the push and pull dance between dog and bird that is the point. On a crisp sunny day, the iridescent colored cackling flush is second to none.

1st choice is late season Sharptail Grouse. I love to watch a motivated dog open up and roll in the short grass prairie. Pressured late season Sharpies are wiley. They will not tolerate a dog that takes an extra step into the scent cone. The flush is explosive and then they will sail up to a mile before putting back down. They have taught my dogs more about honoring their nose and steadiness on point than anything I have done with them. They have also taught me a great deal about reading my dogs points. I like all productive points. That up close, corkscrewed into, quivering, intense point is a thing of beauty, but I am more impressed by the keen nosed dog, that can repeatedly lock up on skittish birds, standing tall, with a high head and pin them at 50-60 yards. A very worthy gamebird after they have been pressured.

Favorite so far is pheasant. Haven't hunted much more than a few types of birds. A close second would be geese in Canada
