Do yourself a favor and order a map from the office in Decatur.

I've aways had better success with hogs in the small units down around Ladonia, and have never seen a deer anywhere during season, and used to hunt and fish the Grasslands since I was in college at ETSU in Commerce in the early 1960's before the paved road was built.

If it is has rained recently DO NOT get off paved roads unless you are in a raised 4x4 with Mud & Snows front & back and the areas just south of the river & north of the East/West FM road were the worst mud hole "roads" I ever saw anywhere. Been told even the NFS guys sometimes have to use a bulldozer to pull their trucks out.

I hunted the Ladonia units as well. I have had better success with deer later in the season when there are fewer folks in the woods. creek bottoms are the place to be most of the time. Check your regulations... some of the areas north of Bonham are bow only.

I don't mean to upset the rifle hunters but the best thing they could do for Caddo grasslands is ban centerfire rifles the way they did at LBJ grasslands. Go to archery only, bows and crossbows. More deer would survive from one season to next if they did that. I just feel like too many deer are being taken off the property as it is now.Deer numbers seem low on the area.I been saying that for several years but the hardheads at TPWD are gonna do what they want to do,period.

thank you I appreciate it. I am going to go walk the area as soon as it stops raining. I have read the other threads in here and it sounds like the farther you go in, the better. May try and put up some game cams.

Has anyone hunted it with a stand? It looks like thick country.
