This buck has me second guessing his age. Only 3 pics of him that aren't the best, but lets hear your thoughts. Freestone Co.

I cant quite tell if he's 4.5 or 5.5. We've been getting on to our guys the past couple of years and put into place a 5.5+ age on our bucks. It got a little too relaxed there for a while and had a lot of 3.5 year olds brought into camp.....so I don't want to be that guy bringing in one under 5.5. He's definitely trophy material to me! He's a stud.

Luckily we're a good ways off any roads, so if someone poached him, they did some work.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

Unfortunately, those are the only 3 pictures I have of him. We have some pretty healthy animals, but I can't see him over 5.5. Just judging him with other bucks on cam and one that was shot on Monday, lead me to believe he was closer to 4.5 and MAYBE could hit 5.5. He's at the top of my hit list currently, but this guy has had me thinking on his age.

Get with the guys hunting your property and get their take. If the majority say 5.5, then I say keep him on your hit list!

Unclebubba, half of the guys on the lease think 3.5 is old enough. roflmao Big part of why we're getting strict about the whole 5.5+. Technically I can shoot what I please since it's my wife's family land, BUT I don't want to be a hypocrite and shoot younger than what we're making them.

I promise you he is over 5 so bust him without worry!

I grew up hunting Freestone so I know those deer pretty well. My first thought was 6+.

I agree with you, I think he’s 4.5. I think those pictures are deceiving. Good buck either way.

What I mean is get with the group and see what their opinion is on age. If majority agree that he's 5 years old, that's a green light.
