Long story but a good friend lost all hydraulic pressure after cleaning the filter screen on his Mahindra tractor. We felt certain the pump had lost prime so I did a little searching on the net to see what type of fix I might find. Ran across an easy method of using a air hose to pressurize the fluid reservoir in the transmission since the transmission fluid drives the hydraulics as well. Worked like a charm. Not a lot of pressure needed and it’s a fix that works on any tractor with an external pump. I first noticed the fix in one of the tractor forums and then later found this YouTube video that shows it being done with an old Ford tractor.

Another handy thing to keep is a 8" round piece of inner tube with the valve stem in it. You can zip tie it around filler necks on any kind of tank and put some air in it to help prime.
