This will be my first year hunting in Medina County north of 90. When does the rut activity start picking up?
Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver, and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison; Genesis 27:3 KJV

When I lived north of 90 it was about a week before Thanksgiving in that area up 173.

I'm not sure where Medina if from Bell Co./Ft. Hood area, BUT the smaller bucks have been mock fighting for a month. They were still in velvet! The old 8 was standing there watching... I'm pretty sure at one point I saw him shaking his head and laughing! LOL I haven't been able to see them for that long either because I haven't been out there since my eye injury and surgery...these are we old deer on the property adjacent to where we board..

When I was a kid I hunted in and around Bandera county. and the hunting season started on November 16th. Why that date I don't know, but it was the standard opening date back then and I remember sitting in my stand that my Dad placed me in watching bucks in hot pursuit of does. I don't think the deer paid much attention to the calendar, but it was pretty much a given that opening weekend the rut was on. I know several ranchers to this day that tell their hunters to plan their hunts around that date.
