I noticed some corn bags in Wallyworld the other day that was 37.5 lbs. Still the 5.97 a bag, but 2.5 lbs lighter. Has anybody else noticed other retailers with reduced weight in the bags?

That would be 12.5 lbs short of a real sack my friend. But yes some places sell 50lb, some sell 40lb bags, and I have noticed academy and Wal-Mart now sell 37.5lb sacks. It’s awful but they will keep doin it if people are buying it.

That's no secret. Big retailers have been doing that for ages. Lower the price, but also make the item smaller. Makes it look cheaper so people will think it is a really good deal. Ever notice that the Big Mac looks smaller now than it used to be? When I was in my early 20's I used to work for Cici's pizza, and we did it too. Nobody noticed. I saw a story recently that McCormick does it with their spices. I have no doubt that it is much more prevalent in today's society that any of us know.

Yea for over a decade now I too noticed the daily items like coffee, sugar and such getting smaller. The corn went to the 40 lbs a few years ago and now they are chipping away again.

That's why I stick with Buccees or local feed store. Still 50. I'll buy 40s when I am in my 60s.

Laugh out loud ...yep, you only hit Wally World when the feed store is closed. If you got some larger containers and some storage ability...just buy bulk corn from the coop after harvest...by the bushel is still the best for me. If you are the type that has to have cleaned corn, then feed store is best for you. But always do the math, and see what the price per pound is, wherever you purchase...make sure you are getting the best deal. Sometimes Walmart is a good price, sometimes not...I have a feeling all those made in china products lining the Walmart shelves is gonna squeeze their profits and make them raise the price of locally produced items, and corn is probably one of those items...

That's why I buy from the local Co-Op, just about every small town of 5 to 6K has them. Always 50 lbs plus.

Almost as bad as selling 50/50 anti-freeze...really?....same price and half water. No thanks. How about those $1 candy bars the kids sell...used to be big, now they are skinny little things.

I just do the math and buy which ever is cheaper per pound Which is always the heaviest bag available or if their bags got wet. Most of the time it is the 50lb bags but on occasion the 40s have been cheaper per pound when on sale. Or at least without driving 4 gallons worth of gas out of the way more than offset the savings

At Tractor Supply the 40lb bags have been a penny a pound cheaper than the 50lb ones, on many occasions

Around here they are 40kgs which is just over 88 lbs. Average price is just under $8. That is purchased at the mill which is one step from the farmer. If you time it right and bring your own bags some farmers will sell direct for $6/88lbs cash.

There is a feed store on the way to the lease, but a lot of times we are going through at night so they are closed. I do the math too, but it just struck me when I saw it. I have known for a long time about the reduction in size.

I buy the corn at the feed store, some high school kid loads it, then my son and or nephews fill the feeders. I am not spending the time looking for bargains, the local feed is locally owned and supports the community.

If you're paying $5.97 for a 40 lb bag, you're getting ripped off. And if you're paying $5.97 for a 37.5 lb bag, you're getting ripped off and flipped off.
