I just got a 95' suburban 4x4 that will be a dedicated off road only ranch/hunting truck. Next week I am welding the rear diff up then mounting a brush guard. I am adding a 2" receiver hitch to it and then running wires needed for the road feeder. I have an old 50" light bar that I going to mount on the hood/windshield cowl area, if for no other reason than it will get it out of my storage unit. Going to slime the tires and maybe do some DIY rattle can camo. I do need a floorboard mount rifle holder, any suggestions/ must haves?

And don’t put it on pavement much after welding that differential. I know nothing about Chevy rear ends but generally unless it’s a 9” Ford welded spider gears don’t hold up on pavement.

All 10 ply tires are not created equal. Also I recently saw some 12 ply aggressive mud tires. They were cheap too.

A winch would be a good investment. It’s helped repair many of fences by myself.

Would cost a little more but welding the gears isn’t always a good thing. A cheap locker would be better.

I thought the same thing but didn’t type it.... a new spool is the way to go.

A high lift jack is handy and BIL is right an onboard air compressor would not hurt a thing.

First thing I would do is trade it for a truck with a bed.

Welding the diff is free plus I have done several vehicles that were dedicated ranch only and I had no issues. The burb has many plus's for me over a truck. My last ranch buggy was a truck and I think the burb will work better, we will see. I like the winch idea I will be looking at that idea for fixing fence as suggested. Any suggestions on a good gun rack? I would like one that would hold the guns vertical and mount on tranny tunnel

I don't recall the brand for sure, but a few years ago I had one from Cabela's mounted in a single cab 4x4 Dodge pickup. It looks like it might have been the one in the link below. It really worked well and can easily be removed from the base plate if needed. It was easy to install as well.

Some flashlight brackets and mounted on the floorboard hump...keep the flashlight in one place, at the ready, and keep it in good condition.

Don’t know how much abuse the 4wd will get, but if you blow the chain transfer case, replace it with a gear case...eliminate the chain. Also, you need a heavy duty snatch rope and some several good sized clevises. When you get the winch hooked up, get a pulley, couple more clevises, a tree saver type strap that goes around the tree, so you can hook a pulley to it. Enough tools to change a tire, dry out a water soaked ignition, and fix a broken/split gas line, a large can of red pepper, some WD 40, and a military type gas can (with mounting bracket). Put a roll of duct tape, electrical tape, and stainless steel electric fence wire (you can thank me later) in your milk crate beside a gallon of antifreeze, a spare oil filter (they do get damaged off road) and a couple quarts of oil. I always carried a spare upper/lower radiator hose and pulley belt. Always carry an extra gallon of drinking water.
