If your 3 expatriate brothers (living in Commonwealth of Virginia) we coming home to God's country to celebrate your 40th birthday this fall what would you plan?
My initial thoughts are: - Dove - Teal - Bay Fishing - Gulf Fishing - Golf - Fried Shrimp - Mexican Food - Beer and Tequila
This makes me think of Corpus Christi/Rockport.
Help me out with some recommendations and guides to make this happen.

If you are coming that far south, come on down to the Rio Grande Valley and throw in a quail hunt, too. Let me know if I can help. A lot of the guides down here do double duty.

What month? I go down there for the opening of dove season which coincides with teal season. Dove, teal, reds, and trout.

We could do the dove hunting here in Central Texas and the Teal at the coast.

gr_elliott,
I already figured that part out. Choosing the outfitter is the part I'm asking for help on.

Ed I got the guy for you if you want to be in the Corpus/ Port A area. One of the better Redfish guides I've known and always has excellent duck hunting. Runs air boats when duck hunting just to add another bit of Coastal flavor to your trip.

Holler at Ross Fields.... He did just what you are talking about last Sept. did a morning Teal hunt...(lasted 15 minutes for 5 guys) Then ate breakfast went dove hunting about 30 minutes from there, and the morning group of 80 clients had limited in about an hour....Ross showed up and the birds were so thick they tried to shoot opposite handed...cause they woulda been done in less than 30 minutes... Down around El Campo/nada somewhere... If I were you that is what I would do! J.J.

That is some good stuff right there. Ed, if I knew someone worthy I would let you know. I know some good hunting guides and fishing guides, but none that do both. I think you have a great idea.

Jeff Steckler in Rockport is a great duck and fishing guide... He is not cheap becuase he is that good. Fished with him several times and booked my first hunted with him last year... was wifes first duck hunt... She's hooked now. Also runs all new Ranger Boats. Also he'll let you drive the Airboat. http://www.casadecuentos.com/

Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, b/c they know not victory nor defeat"- #26 TR

Thanks for all the posts. We finally settled on our trip for this year and we are going on a 4-day hike in the Appalachian Trail.
I'll save this information for next year and try to get them to come down and hunt and fish with me.
My family is going to Port Aransas with some other family members in July and I might hire one of these guides for a day trip in the bay.

Yeah, they are planning to bring their whole families down here in December (expensive) for my grandmother's 90th birthday so I agreed to go up there this year and get them down here next year. I would rather them be at Grandma's birthday than a duck hunt anyway.
