I am trying to find a guide who can take my son and I on an Elk Hunt in Colorado second or third season? Any recommendations for guides? Also, any recommendations on GMUs for an OTC tag?

If they are a good outfitter... they most likely do not have space for this year unless someone cancelled

Yes, seasons have opened and you're late for this year. I would be wary of any outfitter that had an opening now unless they can show you it is a cancellation. I would also do my research on any units that you find an outfitter with an opening. May be an access issue. You need to look now for next year, current hunters may rebook after their hunt.

When booking a guide in Colorado make sure he is licensed. You can find a listing of all licensed guides on the DOW website. There are many unlicensed guides working in Colorado that claim to be licensed to work public lands. Be aware of any guide that tells you that he’s your friend or relative if any asks. DOW know all the ploys they use to entice out of state clients to book hunts with them. The fines are hefty and levied on clients as well as the unlicensed guide.
