Anyone hunted this one? Lucked out and drew an exotic for 1/7-11 on the second round. Anyone have any maps of the compartments? Anyone else draw this one? I'd be interested in exchanging contact info as this one is pretty remote. Just 2 of us on my draw. Looks like a great hunt.
Thanks,
Mike

Been there once on a archery hunt. Missed a auodad and killed a sheep/goat cross of somekind. Nobody at the hunt could identify it. Good pair of hiking boots, binos, or spotting scope is what you need. Terrain is pretty tough. Get up high, or stay down low and glass, then use the wind to get in close. Take everything you will need since it's a hour and half one way back to nearest town. Once you find out which compartment you have, pick the brains of the Ranger that lives there. He can give you a lot of info on each compartment. There is also a bunkhouse there. Call and reserve a bed before it fills up.

Thanks Erny. pretty excited about this draw.

Thanks sqiggy, was thinking about taking my camper but I need to make a run earlier this fall and make sure i can get it in there. Did you see much in terms of animal population?

You could get a camper in, just don't know if they hook ups. There is a camp site. Just make sure you have good tires all the way around. I only saw 3 auodads that were together. After I missed, playing cat and mouse to get back on them, is when I walked up on the one I shot. Another guy on the hunt killed a ram and missed a bunch more. He was seeing something every day. I only hunted about 2 1/2 days cause I drew another hunt that was about to start.

Hunted there last year. Hunt and drive up high and glass canyon rims. All comments above are good advice. No signal towers there so cell phones are worthless unless you have the Whats Up app.

Don't talk the talk if you didn't walk the walk.

I haven't hunted there, but I've been there several times. Gorgeous country. I saw a lot of Aoudad there (several large rams). Good advice from the posts above; start high and glass. PATIENCE smile
I have hunted the other property to the south. Lot's of aoudad in that country.
I don't remember the biologist name, but if it's the same guy from 2015, he was very informative and helpful.
GOOD LUCK!!
BTW, there is a new ranger there this year. I don't know him. The previous ranger, Stephen, retired a few weeks ago.
The bunkhouse looked very clean and comfortable, but I did not use that. I camped out every time I've been there.

Thanks for all the reports. Getting close now and I'm really looking forward to it. Been hitting the range and have a 270 win and backup 280 rem dialed in. Haven't made it down there to check anything out but have been plotting on google earth.

Cajun Raider - can you elaborate on that whats up app? I tend to not download apps since I'm a bit paranoid crazy

Just investigated whatsapp and it is a subsidiary of facebook...no go for me. Guess it will be like the old days, compass, map and gps. Folks back home will have to wait till I get back to civilization!
