20" suppressed 223ai with 62gr tsx, on a model 7 action. My 223 AI with 80 ELDs hits with as much energy as my .243 with 80s. It's a long schlong to hunt with in a popup blind though. ssssshhhhh...don't let others hear your say that. This is Texas, where a .223 bounces off the hide of the deer, and you can only kill something with grandaddy's 30-30 or a 7mm of some kind. God help you if you run a can...

22-250 50 gr. vmax. I know, I know, that isn't ideal, but I've killed dozens over the last few years and have had great results (75% neck/head shots).
.300 mag 180 gr. soft points for trophy animals if archery isn't possible.

I'll probably use 168 gr Accubonds in 7mm rem mag but I'm going to test some 180 grain VLDs too.

I am going to try to take a doe with my Marlin 357 with 180 grain hard cast bullets. I've been hunting with my 357 rifles for a few years. 158 gr flat points, hand loaded a little warm. I wouldn't be scared to shoot a buck of a lifetime with one within 100 yards. 357 out of a rifle is much more capable than many will give credit.

MarkE My SIL uses the 22-250 with 50gr and head or neck shoots his kills very effective. For me it will be what ever is itching at the time.
.243 .308 .270 .223 or 7mm mag.

You could probably scour the earth looking for them now and come up empty. When I retired mine in favor of the 45 Colt someone on this thread got a nice fat stack of them. That was an impressive bullet.

Whitetail will mostly be with a bow, Mathew Halon 32 @ 70# shooting wasp jackhammers
If I do get a hair to go hunt with a rifle it will probably be with a Ruger M77 in .270 stoked with 130 grain hornady custom interlocks.
Out west hope to break in my new Mark V in .300 win shooting 180 grain accubonds
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

It's a hog leg. Don’t be scared. Throw the heaviest and most powerful round in it you can find, everything else after that is like a 22. You really should shoot it and hung with it, it will put a snails on your face. My wife shot this doe with it last year

FIFY I read it’s the fastest way to put miracle grow on my man card.....plus I’m a terrible shot so I read it will put him down right there no matter where I hit him, if he fell of a 12” ledge and chipped a horn I wouldn’t be able to bear it...

What you read has to be true, too many man card holders say the same.
