Myself and brothers drew Mason Mountain for Anterless/Spike. Anyone know about this place? Still waiting to see how our kids did on the Youth drawings. I hunted scimitar-horned oryx there two years ago with my brother. It is a large high-fence place separated into 2 (maybe 3) different pastures. Really nice facilities. Be sure to book a room in the bunk house. It has a full kitchen for use and grills available outside. They have a cleaning station with running water available along with a walk-in cooler and commercial ice machine. We saw a bunch of deer running around. I wouldn't expect you to have any trouble filling your tag. The guys running the place were great. They knew what they were doing and seemed to genuinely want everyone to have fun and be successful. They didn't worry about dumb rules like drinking beer in the bunkhouse or on the porch after the guns are put away. I suspect their attitude would change pretty quickly if you broke a major rule, but it wasn't an issue with our group. Let me know if you have any specific questions. Good Luck!

Same flat out rejection for Powderhorn for adult and youth hunts. That’s odd. Are they saving them for someone else?

Drew Hill Country SNA doe for the January Hunt.
My Nephew drew I. D. Fairchild youth buck hunt.
Not too bad a year so far. Now if I could just draw the Chaparral buck hunt!

Selected for Gus Engeling; Anterless/Spike. Not high on my list but I have learned to take what I can get from the draw hunts. I have never been drawn too far from home address, have to wonder if there is connection.

I think something is still messed up with the system. Entered 4 Exotic areas, 2 say not selected, the other 2 say pending 2nd draw. In years past, they would all show pending 2nd draw. ?
Not complaining, just curious.

Saw some 'ol boys get sent packing home from Devils River for breaking the no alcohol on the premises rule, Kerr the guy that ran the place was a piece of work, doing a quick search of his name looks like he don't work there anymore He was a Ranger at the time I guess at some point he moved to Del Rio PD http://delrionewsherald.com/news/article_83523e2e-ae17-11e7-bc8c-43d40eef1eb3.html

Wow, I drew 3 hunts so far. First the pronghorn hunt, archery deer at Richland Creek, now archery deer at Laguna Atascosa. I'll be passing on the Laguna Atascosa hunt though because I don't have enough vacation time. Good luck folks on the second draw. I hope someone here gets it!

If a permit is not purchased by the deadline,(8/25) the open slot goes to 2nd draw. If everyone selected purchases their permits, there is no 2nd draw. I was selected once on 2nd draw, so it does happen.

That's too dang long to me, you would think someone would know within 48 hours if they are able to go. Then I am sure someone would complain about that window.

Then it goes to their first line supervisor, then platoon SGT, then platoon leader, then to operations, then to the 1SG, then the commander looks at it and approves or denies it. Whole process usually take a minimum of a week sometimes longer. They would have to look at the schedule and make sure they aren’t missing any training and blah blah blah. I’m sure there are other career where you have to get approval as well. So makes perfect sense to me.

Heck I paid in less than 4.8 minutes!
bummer for the guys not drawn. You are just going to have to go standby somewhere. I know if I dont get picked for a 2nd hunt then I will going standby on some mulie hunt. I already know the one I am going on and I am pumped and already preparing.
