What is the average weight of an adult red hind, stag?
When do the reds rut in the Hill Country?
My experience with hinds is 200lbs give or take. I've never killed a stag.
Thanks captdavid

I have Red deer on my place in East Texas, the mature hinds here weigh from 275# to our ranch record of a 354# one from last year. Our stags are in the 500# to 580# range. The stags here start roaring mid September give or take a week, usually some roaring through October.

The hinds on our place in the hill country usually weigh 200-250, and stags 350-400. The stags usually start roaring mid September (usually triggered by a cool front) and will continue on through mid October.
