I've been grinding out E-scouting on Amistad Natl. Recreation Area. Went out last weekend to scout. I bumped bucks and does a plenty. I spoke to a game warden, and got his impression about hunting pressure. Seems that unit 5 gets the most the rest are pretty quiet.
Has anyone hunted this area before?

I used to hunt there back in 2000 thru 2004. Hunt area 1 was good. We either hunted area 1 as soon as you crossed the bridge, we hunted the land near the lake. Or, we would take bikes and ride the old road all the way back to the old cattle pens and hunt down below the pens toward the lake. Hunt area 2 was also good but too many hunters equaled too many dangerous situations lately so we tended to stay out of it. Hunt area 3 is all walking BUT it is good there if you hunt near the highway (not more than 200 yards from it.)

Seems they would let us use rifles or muzzleloaders there instead of just bows.
