I am a fan of Rage. I’ve killed 6 deer in the past 3 years and none have gone more than 60yds and they all left a blood trail Stevie Wonder could follow.
Each of those deer came from my Mathews 32 pulling 70lbs or ten point crossbow.

My question is, my wife wants to shoot her compound this year. She just got tuned up for 50lbs last weekend and is dialed in at 20yds. Have any of you had experience with the mechanicals and lower draw weights? I don’t want to set her up for failure.

You like Rage, they make a low KE head for lower poundage bows

I would think the smaller cutting diameter rage heads would work just fine.

I'm shooting right at 58lbs., but with a short draw lenght, 26". I have not tried a rage, but did try 2 different mechancial heads last year. First one was a 6yd shot on a deer. Hit the top of a rib, and that's as far as it went. No recovery. Shot a hog, about 110lbs, at 15yds with a second one. Hog piled up about 40yds, but was not impressed at all at the penetration. Did not even punch thru the other side.
Looks like to me, you need a lot of speed for a MH. Think I would have her shoot a fixed head.

I have not. I shoot fixed blade heads but I know some that have used them with success.

I have setup several women and kids with G5 Montechs, no penetratiin worries with them and bows as light as 38lbs at 24 inch draw, just stay off the shoulder with them.
