I am looking for recommendations on the design/layout for some new shooting lanes and sendero cuts. The main goal of these cuts would be for deer hunting. A new fence is going in around the property so some heavy equipment will be available to make some new spots. Majority of the property is overgrown mesquite and I have had mild succes over the past few years hunting in small cleared out spots under feeders but still searching for that monster. Texas wildlife recommends a “winding” sendero cut but everything I see is a long cut for a few hundred yards if not acres. I was thinking a design with a L or Wagon Wheel could be successful in different spots or even just winding trails throughout the property. I would like to get others input on successful set ups they have utilized or seen been successful. Thank ya’lll in adavance!

Not sure if this is pertinent to what you are asking, but take prevailing winds, both before and after fronts' as well as where the sun rises and sets into account. Maybe a right angle or a "T" where you can see more than just front and back of you.

Ours looks like an airport from above, intersecting lanes at different angles.

Thanks for the suggestions and responses. I love the idea of the diamond design that interlocks and criss crossing intersections. Taking the wind and sunset into consideration I could see those working well.

This is what I go with.

This is what I go with. Something like this or a “wagon wheel” design where your stand is in the middle. Cut as many lanes as you want.

Thank you BayouGuy and RexMitchell! The turkey foot design makes perfect sense. I will most likely go with something like that with and connect it all with some ATV trails for access.

If you are doing food plots, make sure you can get a tractor with implements through to them. ATV trails suck for tractors.
