My favorite BOLT ACTION rifle is a Weatherby Mark V
Growing up we shot model 70’s, Ruger M77’s, Remmy 700’s but I lusted after a Mark V like a teenage boy lusts after a playboy centerfold. Loved the high gloss, deep bluing and high comb that is their signature style.
They were, at the time, a high rollers rifle and I wanted one bad. One gun I regret not buying was a fancy wood stocked Mark V in .257 wby but could not justify the cost at the time.
I finally bought one ( albeit a accumark) 5 years ago and it was everything I had hoped for.
For me, a Mark V Weatherby is as good as it gets
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I just purchased a lefty Ruger American in 6.5 CM, and I am hoping it becomes my favorite. Haven't hunted with a bolt gun in a long time. My go-to for the last 20 or so years has been a T/C Encore. Depending on season or mood, it wears a .44 Mag pistol barrel, .270 Win rifle barrel, or a .50 caliber muzzleloader barrel. Hasn't let me down yet.

Owned too many Ruger 77 Tanger's in the early days to not give a nod to them. Learned their foibles and how to make'em shoot to my expectations in several different calibers, but settled on 270's as the Go To Shooters. Found M70 XTR's and a new love and the Rugers went away eventually. Got into SAKO's and owned a small collection of 5-6 1st Gen Classic Grade limited production or non cataloged calibers until I could not justify the investment, after campaigning a SAKO Classic Grade 270 and a 300WMg for lots of years. After the Have Briefcase Will Travel & Relocate Anywhere Corporate Gypsy insanity years, upon the return to Texas picked up a 77 270 Tang'er to start over with until a Tikka 695 270 & a M70 300 Classic, and later several T3's came along.
Today I'm getting back into nothing but M70's & T3's but have not settled on a single caliber except mebbe 270 to hunt with...with a nod to a T3 6.5x55's & a CZ 550 9.3x62's pleasant very successful memories. On Hand at the moment only an XTR 7x57 (or the possibility of a Amercanized version in a 7-08) has altered my interests to finish the ride with and am working towards that goal in a couple BACO's & Tikka's with only the tried and true old reliable calibers, since a 300's belted case are not doable anymore. In my younger days it was my Browning BBR 7 Mag first and then added a Rem 700 BDL 300 mag. Both were simply outstanding shooters. Then I bought a CZ 22-250 with a SS trigger and really enjoyed shooting it. Then I found a CZ 6.5X55 and have hunted with it off and on the last few years. Now I've bought a Browning Hells Canyon 6.5 CM that's going to be my go to hunting rifle. Once I changed out the trigger it's lived up to its billing.

My semi-custom 6.5CM on a 700 action is currently my favorite bolt gun.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

6.5x284,6.5Grendel,6.5 TCU have been my "go to" rounds the last the last 10 years our so.

Ive hunted with 5 or 6 different models and in none of them does the action affect my preference. I have guns I like more and less, but the action could be rigged with the same/similar stock and barrel and all of them would be equally as pleasing. If I had to pick just one of them it would probably be a Rem 700 because it was my first rifle and I have shot the majority of my critters with it.

I really like my old 788 but my dad usually hunts with it now. In a bolt, I'm either toting a Tikka CTR or Win M70.

Way too many "favorites" in my safe but my oldie but goodies Ruger M77 in .257 Roberts and even older Remington 788 in .308, both old reliable tack drivers.

Use what you're comfortable with and fits you well. I started hunting with a Browning A-Bolt Micro Medallion in .243 and it's killed everything I've pointed it at. More recently been using a Tikka T3 .300WM and it only missed a running coyote. I feel confident using either of those guns.
