Can I get y'alls opinion on how this buck is progressing. It's been a while since I have run my trail cameras durring the off season but I have made sure to keep them running this year. So this pic is from July 5 just outside of Mt. Enterprise and I was curious how you think he is progressing. My place is a 160 acre heavily wooded tract and the high end of bucks that I have seen over the last 6 years is around 140-145. Does this buck have that potential and when do the start to shed their velvet in East Tx? Sorry for the semi blurry photo.

Nice buck, but no way he gets to the 140's. Velvet will come off in very late August/early September.

I've also got a small lease near Mt Enterprise. That's a good lucking buck and has that potential maybe next year or two but I don't think so this year. close to end of growing season. About another 3-4 weeks. I usually start seeing velvet sheds by end of Aug. There are some good deer in that area, tough hunting but time and patience can pay off.

Once the velvet is gone, I would be very hesitant to shoot him because he might not make width. Young buck that is border line on being legal.
