 Sow with piglets, shoot or not to shoot?

I won't shoot a sow with her small piglets, just my personal preference. Will the piglets servive if I did shoot the mother? If so, I might change my mind.

I has seen plenty of extremley small piglets going for food and water with no sow , so I believe the piglets will survive to do more breeding and destruction if they get overpopulated

In a couple of years remember this post In a few months, that sow will have more piglets,the other piglets will be breeding and having more piglets and so on After all the piglets grow up and are tearing up s@1+ like the rest of the bunch, i think you will have wished you would have shot as many as you could of in the first place JMO We shoot whatever is in the traps, reguardless of size,and the little ones that get out, we run over with the pickup

shoot her , they have two and a half litters a year something like that of 10-15 piglets if those die theres 5,000,000 more behind them LOL just in Texas

dont worry central tx, we run em over and shoot em all as well, they costs thousands of dollars a year on us. Now to the orig question, yes they will survive, many times another sow will take care of em, or they will live on there own. Either way, they are very fast breeding animals and all need to be killed, i shot a sow with piglets monday night, ill post up some pics when i get to a faster computer.

If you have any farm land you will kill every one you get a chance to kill, anyway you can !!!! They have torn up my pasture and hayfields numerous times. Friend of mine has lost almost 20,000 dollars worth of seed corn this year alone. Based on that KILL KILL KILL !!!!!!!!!!!!!

definitely over-glorified rats. I shoot all I see around the house (@ the lease I could care less)... when I see a lot of small, and I mean small pigs with a sow, I will break the sow down so she will squeal like crazy and then pick off all the younguns. They tend to either stick around her when she goes down, or they keep trying to come back to her for the next few minutes.

A sow's gestation period is 3 months, 3 weeks and 3 days. So they could easily have 3 litters a year.

Get rid of as many as you can... They are a nuisance, and need to be brought down to manageable numbers. Once that happens then we can talk about sparing some of the little ones; but at the rate they are multiplying and less hunters are out there taking care of things. I don't see that happening any time soon.
Little ones make good eating and you are at least utilizing them.

I shoot everyone I see. But I think that the pigs that still have their stripes will die if not picked up by another sow. If the pigs are real small they will usually bunch up after the sow is shot thats when you need a shotgun and some # 6 take out the whole herd.
