At me old lease I didn't have to deal with cows just put up Hog panel to keep the hogs out. On my new lease they have a few cows I still have all the hog panel will this keep the cows out?

Doubtful, if they really want in. Are you feeding corn only or protein as well?
A cheap option is to add one barb-wire to your setup about 12" above the top of the hog panel. Beats buying all new panels. Depends on how aggressive the cows are.

Depends on the cows, I've used the 34" hog panels on every one of my leases & properties I own, I have cows on all of them.
I had 3 cows - 2 brafords, 1 brangus get into one pen about a half dozen times in a 3 month period about 25 years ago, they got a ride to town.
Since then not a single cow or bull has ever gotten into a feed pen standard 34" hog panel arranged in a circle ish shape. I think size of pen makes a difference too, mine are 12 panels minimum usually 14 - 18 with one panel cut in half to make an 8' gate.
Of course if they're over stocked hungry / starving they'll jump, push over, mash down 50" cattle panels or lose / floppy 3 strand barb wire.

Make the pen plenty big and you shouldn't have a problem. Big enough that corn isn't getting tossed out of the pen. Also don't put any fruity or sweet smelling attractant/corn out (like the orange flavor stuff). We never have problems with the cows getting into our pens with the exception of someone putting out that orange flavored corn. They destroyed that one getting in.

If the cattle have good grass, properly stocked and large pens they usually aren't a problem with hog panels. Problem comes into play with to small of a pen, over-stocked cattle numbers, drought and/or stocker cattle. I had a problem with a bull on a pen with hog panels. He was not after any of the feed just the buffelgrass inside the pen. He would reach over the top of the hog panel and keep trying to reach the buffelgrass and pushed his way over the panel. Then made it a habit to get inside when he wanted and never touched any of the corn or the feeder. Solved that problem with 50" cattle panels and never had another issue. Downside of the cattle panel is the very small pigs could get still thru the squares, not anything of any size.
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?

At my current lease in Oklahoma, a few times a year the cows knock down the hog panels and maul the feeder. Although, our old lease in goliad didn’t have anything protecting the feeders and the cows left the corn alone. I guess it just depends on the cows.

Hog panels have worked well for us with cows. Seems pretty rare that the cows care about corn. But that could vary based on stocking rates, range conditions, etc. And I bet they're much more likely to jump in for free choice protein (which I don't do).

Had one cow jump in a feed pen and it tore everything up, since then they have learned there lesson and haven't had an issue. Like others have stated it just depends on the cattle and what other resources they have available to them.

Last winter we had very little grass on the lease. Rancher brought on some new cows. I had bought one of those protein deer blocks and put it inside the feeder pen. those cows could smell it and came to it. The camera picked up 4 cows in the pen and they took all the deer block. hog panel pen and I put a strand of barb wire around the pen, only about 2" above the hog panel. No more cow problems but I have not put the deer block in either.

Cows's mouths are so large that they have a really hard time picking up single kernels of corn. So, like you said, most of the time they're just not interested.

I also like to set the feeder spinners up closer to the funnel. That’ll sling the corn farther, making it thinner & more scattered. Cows generally won’t fool with corn if it’s spread out good. When you start makin piles they get more interested.
