1:8 twist, actually.. Picked up one of Whittaker's special run Tikka 22-250's with a 1:8 twist.. I'm really curious to see what ammo it likes with that faster twist vs. the standard 1:14.. Hope to have a range report this week- https://shop.whittakerguns.com/product/38416
I really hate to do what I am about to do, because it will be very painful for you.

Run handloads and 75 to 80gr bullets. Don't know of any factory ammo with that weight bullet for the 22-250 but hopefully some ammo company will take notice and start making it if not already. If you don't reload give Chad a call.

I feel like that's the only way to take advantage of the faster twist but I'm not currently set up to load my own.. SO.. If you don't reload give Chad a call. This is probably the best option..

Jason, didn't you rebarrel w/ a faster twist or am I thinking of one of your other rifles?

I think Jason did rebarrel one to a faster twist and I run a 22-243 and have for several years. The 1:8 can shoot the slighter weight bullets well. A lot depends on what you are looking to do with the gun. vaporize small critters inside 300 yards the light weight bullets will work fine but if wanting to take it further with more reliable hits run the 75 to 80 gr bullets for the higher BC for less wind drift.

Hornady, Nosler and Berger all make bullets in the 75 to 80gr weight and I know the Nosler custom competition in that weight are nasty on coyotes. try the 75gr Sirocco from Swift for deer and hogs you might be surprised by the effectiveness it has.

Jason, didn't you rebarrel w/ a faster twist or am I thinking of one of your other rifles? I rebarreled a 1:14 .22-250 to a 1:8 .22-250. I shoot 75 gr A-Max at 3200 fps MV, and it is way better in the west Texas wind.

Kmon, wjat is the terminal performance of the Nosler CC like? Not my choice for deer but it makes a real mess of a coyote, shoulder shot coyote at a couple hundred yards and the exit was about 4 inches across. Not fur friendly at all but sure drops them

I've always wondered if they'd open up on impact...sounds like they DO.

Would the 1 in 8 work with some of the newer 90 grain class bullets? I know they recommend 7 or 6.5 twist but wasn't sure how he extra velocity impacts stability.

In a 22-243 to get ok groups with 90gr Berger VLDs it has to be a stiff load from a 27 inch barrel. 3200fps is where groups start to get under MOA in that rifle. The rifle is a Rem 700 with a 27inch hart 1:8 barrel

Get a box one box of 100, if it won't run em, I'll buy your left-overs.

That's it, I'm going to my safe place with Buzz where we talk about bolt action Valkyries over peach daiquiris.
