What type of scope/sights do you recommend for a Bushmaster AR-15? I don't want open sights and don't plan on making any long distance shots. Something for hog hunting.

What's your budget? Hard to make a recommendation if you don't provide a ballpark range. Big difference in performance between a sightmark red dot and an ACOG, but also big difference in price.

I prefer a 1-4 or 1-6 power scope for an AR. I like the 1x for close in shots for quick target acquisition. But having some magnification for hunting is nice. 4x is plenty for me. I think most people over power their optics anyway, especially for an AR.

I have an Aimpoint Micro T2 on one and a Vortex HD II 1-6 on the other. They get swapped back and forth based on what I'm shooting

well, depends on use of course..
red dot or low power variable for me for 5.56
I run a red dot, Trijicon MRO on my 14.5 and a Steiner 1-5 on my 18.
Other caliber ARs for differnet uses have varying optics..
