South Texas has had mountain lions for as long as I can remember. Never saw one but twice found what we thought were lion kills in McMullen county.
A clear conscience is often the sign of a fuzzy memory.

Nice Picture, We have a long tail up here in Bandera that's been going between my place and neighbors place. They found a young buck dead the other day with bite mark on neck and butt eaten out.

I'm surprised there aren't any more than what there is. It's not like they don't have enough pork to eat.

Had it get caught in one of our snares and the cat destroyed a cedar tree next to fence and a half circle next to fence that spanned about 5ft in a half circle pattern and incredible clawing on the ground till snare was chewed through. The weird thing is all the coyotes have seemed to have disappeared.

I'd shoot it if I was on a lease with trophy deer and have it mounted! The lease I have now I would just let it walk.

Nice Picture, We have a long tail up here in Bandera that's been going between my place and neighbors place. They found a young buck dead the other day with bite mark on neck and butt eaten out. A large bobcat can kill young deer that size also and start at the butt also. Anyone get any TC pics of the mountain lion yet in your area? There are some areas that have them on a regular basis and others that are more random. Where I grew up in northern Bee County there were 2 killed in the 70's less than 3 miles from our home. There has not been one killed or seen since then. Big ranches in the area are now smaller, more fragmented tracts of land are the norm. In Live Oak county we tracked them on family land yearly from the 60's into the 80's but never saw one. IH-37 was started in the 80's and changed wildlife movement patterns and then fragmentation of ranches started. When I lived in La Salle county I was in the area where lions were radio collared and tracked back in the 90's, so I know they were there. I never saw one or got TC pics of them in my years working or hunting down there. I did see what I thought was sign and confirmed by tracks on the neighboring ranch in the same week though. In all my travels and areas I hunted in Texas, I have yet to see one mountain lion. Where I live now we have reports of them every year being seen in person, but not one has been caught on a TC yet. I think there population has increased and grown into some new areas, while other areas they are no longer around like they were in years past. Still waiting to see one when I have my camera with me.
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?

Personally saw one that was killed in Real County back in the 80's that had a snare around it's neck. Had managed to break it from it's anchor but couldn't get rid of the necklace. Guy shot it from his deer blind, stalking up on pigs under his feeder.

A few years ago, a friend said all the Deer and Pigs vanished on their lease. The Rancher there shot a Lion the following month and soon after they started seeing deer and Pigs again. If I had a choice, I would shoot one if seen.

I shoot coyotes because they are predators and harmful to my wildlife management program. I would have no problem shooting a lion.
