I've been out running around the country lately, and stopped and took a factory tour of Bucks, in Post Falls Idaho. If a guy ever gets a chance, it's worth the time and will give you a new opinion of Buck. I had no idea they had such a factory, with over 300 employees. The tour takes you through the whole process from raw materials to final polishing of the products. Really impressive tour !

Buck Knives do not suck.
I have several stashed here & there for Back-Ups if I ever forget my "cool" knives.
There are many models that are made from good steel that keep an edge and can be redressed easily.
As with anything ever made, there are going to be haters.

And great customer service. I had a Buck gut hook folder, and the tip broke off while I was separating the hip joint of a deer. Mailed the knife off to Buck, and received it back about three weeks later with a brand new blade installed. No questions asked.

They moved out of California many, many years ago, and are now in Post Falls Idaho. I would sure recommend taking their tour if a person gets a chance. I was amazed at the amount of machinery and production capabilities. The tour director said when they moved there, it took 18..18 wheelers to haul their machinery and they have grown a lot since then. They have some amazing equipment to produce their products and I thought the heat treating room was really interesting too. Since the introduction of the 110 model folder, they said they have produced 15 million of them and it is still a very popular product of theirs. I saw a bunch of them getting finished up as we walked past one portion of the factory. I am not a fan of Chinese products, and won't buy Chinese knives at all. I don't really understand they having some of their products made over there...but most of their stuff is made right there in Idaho. Lifetime warranties are hard to beat and no matter what happens to your knife, they stand behind it. If they can't fix one, they replace it. One employee that deals with repairs has been working there something like 43 years now!

I bought Buck 110 folders for my groomsmen, grandfather, FIL, and myself when I got married.
Broke the tip on mine this winter trying to separate a joint on a deer. Carelessness on my part. I need to send it back and have it replaced.

I have 4 Buck knives that are over 50 years old, one of which I carried in Vietnam.

I have had more Buck's than I can remember. Mostly 110s. Lost some. Gave some away. But never had one fail. Still have 3 or 4.
However, my favourites have been the classic drop points. I have the prince, squire and knight. I'm saving up for the Duke.
As soon as I get the Duke, I will be getting the 110 with the drop point (when did THAT come into production????)
Yeah, I like Bucks. As a matter of fact, my Dad met Chuck Buck years ago a trade show of sorts and they struck up a lasting friendship. Dad has a whole box of "testers", "one of a kinds" and "experimentals" knives. Some incredible work on some of them......And a few that there was good reason they never hit the market, but all fascinating......
I really need to send one or 2 of mine in. They no longer lock.

I've owned a bunch of them myself over the years, and most have moved on somewhere or other. I have never really favored one brand much, but have to respect Buck for the longevity of the company and still turning out a quality product. I have Randalls, Benchmades, Cases, Etc...and don't think one is that much better than the other. I do have to agree that the 110 with a drop point is very tempting for me at this point.

I've never really been a "name brand" kind of guy myself. Just the 110 is a knife I like. Im pretty sure some of my current 110's are actually made by others. I know for a fact one of them is a Uncle Henry.
