I've always used firearms chambered in the calibers of lesser $$ ammo. Even they have gone up some but hey, it's still cheaper than it would be otherwise.

I will still fire away with the 22/22mag, 223 & 9mm, b/c I have a stockpile of ammo for them to tap into when needed, but my larger caliber rifles only get shot at animals or to be taken out and checked to see if they are still stackin' and put back up. So I guess it can be said, the recent jump in ammo prices aren't bothering me..... yet.

That's my formula for cheap shooting too. One day in the future... when we've got flying cars and talking dogs... we'll have cheap ammo again.
That's providing that the talking dogs don't learn how to drive our flying cars and take over the world though... we shall see.

I have almost run out of 22's. They aren't all that cheap either.

I was never one to blast a box or two of .45acp or even 9mm just for the hell of it. i've always practiced with .22lr. I leave the centerfires for matches. Maybe a magazine or two but that's its. It's interesting some folks almost have a need to finish all 50rds or what ever the amount the box may contain. I was/am never like that.

Me and my wife used to shoot our rifles and pistols, a lot. I bought a SA 22 Cowboy pistol so I can still afford to get my SHOOT ON.

I sure as heck don't bump fire the old AK anymore. I used to shoot about 50 rounds a week of 9mm. Last fall, I stopped shooting that much (went to maybe 50 /month), but still bought the same amount, so the ammo scare hasn't really affected me. I reload all the .45 I shoot, and I still have quite a few primers and plenty of powder so I haven't felt it there either.

A good friend gun dealer said that, (I may have this backwards, but it doesn't matter), Winchester has upped ammo output by over 50% and Remington by over 20+%. Hopefully we will wake up soon to find ammo to be like fuel, plentiful and reasonably priced.

Hope you are right about that. I'm in pretty good shape but it'd be nice to be able to go out and burn a thousand rounds or so on a weekend drill and not have to wonder if I can replace my stock or not.

Figure ammo prices are like $4.00 a gallon gasoline. Change my ways a little but mostly b*tched about it a lot. When prices go down after production increases and sales decrease, will go back to b*tching about something else.
That why i like my .357. Shoot .38s for practice.
