I just picked up my water buffalo from the taxidermist and want to make sure I hang it right. It weighs 70-75 pounds. Originally I wanted to to put it over the fireplace (doesn’t get used) but after reading some articles, it sounded like it was going to be a lot more work than just putting a bolt in the brick. Here’s my question...is it as simple as putting a bolt into the brick? Or am I better off hanging on a wood stud in the wall? Any advice is appreciated.

I have an elk hanging in the brick above a fireplace. Get a lead anchor for a 5/16 or larger lag bolt, drill the right size hole in the brick and hang it. Or at least that is what I did

Brick should be fine, you just need to get an anchor that goes in the full depth of the brick. 4 inch should be about right
