Thinking about taking a few days to hunt hogs at DCNF, camping around Merkel Campground. Anyone hog hunted DCNF yet this year that could give me some advise, tips or tricks? Mainly just wanting to get in the woods a few days. Thanks in advance for any information.

I have not been in years. But I think your attitude of just being in the woods is the right one to take. Just find the fresh sign. Pigs are way too nomadic to really count on them being in the same place year to year.

What Erny posted. When i hit a WMA for first time. While at house got out my TOPO USA CD, took out book with map of area. Looked for creeks, streams, & terrain, put pin marks with cordinance on area looked good, did several areas, incase other hunters. Made copy of area with copier. Always had good success. Also carried pen & small pocket note pad ta write down cordinance from my GPS had blue one (legand) of the findings while easing slowly twards area scouted at home, if found fresh sign, slow down. Eyes romen. Best wishes, don't pressure yourself, & just enjoy the day.

Colt is giving some sound advice.
Check out the topo maps online and find the creeks and walk them. Once you find that area with fresh wallows then i would park it and wait for pig thirty upwind and out of sight.
Those pigs get pushed around a lot so you just never know where they will be.
GO TRUMP!
