Has anyone every hunted with Aleutian Island Waterfowlers out of Alaska? I was drawn for an Emperor goose permit and this is the outfitter I was thinking of trying to book with.

I did in December on a King Eider hunt. May be one of your only options for an Emporer and shouldn’t be hard to get one.

Congrats on getting drawn. I wasn't as lucky. My two cents: Avoid Charlie Summerville. PM me for details if you'd like. Jeff Wasley guides out of Cold Bay and has a stellar reputation. More important, his safety record is unblemished over a few decades.

Congrats on the tag. I will second the recommendation of Jeff wasley with four flyway outfitters. Top notch. Whenever I am in cold bay for work I borrow decoys from him. He has the best set up around for anything you want to hunt. I got my emperor last year in cold bay. It is one of my favorite trips I take every year.

I didn’t go to Cold Bay, but to Saint Paul Island. It’s a pain in the [censored] going that far, but doable. Weather is much better in Cold Bay so less problems with weather related travel issues. It’s all US (as opposed to international) so getting birds back is a non issue. Take the advice given on the outfitter.

I will Be in cold bay for work (and hunting) October 5-15 or so. If you’re there during that period let me know and I’ll buy you a beer at the barefoot inn and bar. If not, good luck!

I would take you up on that offer but looks like I will be there a little later. Hunt is planned for 10-Nov to 17-Nov.

Bummer. Good luck to you though! You’ll have no trouble filling your tag. Plenty of emperors in the area. Just pick your shots and shoot a prime adult!

Thanks. That’s the plan. Hopefully I can bring a few other birds back for the wall as well.

Congrats on the drawing the Emperor tag, that's definitely a bird of a lifetime. I used Charlie Summerville, Aleutian Island Waterfowlers for my King Eider trip and I have nothing bad to say about Charlie and AIW. I know there is some bad blood between the outfitters up there and I try not to get caught up in that mess. Charlie and his guides will work real hard to get their clients their birds. If you want more info, just PM me. Congrats again on the Emperor tag, I hope you get a prime bird!

You shouldn't believe everything you hear or read from a few haters, Aleutian Island Waterfowlers has been Guiding Full time since 1985 in Alaska with a %100 safety record and sent over 1500 happy hunters home, He also post's all the hunts online with free videos of every hunt at no charge to the hunter. Its called Service and going the extra mile, The lodge in Coldbay is a roomy 3600 Sq ft oceanfront lodge with the best view, and They operate a New in 2018 25ft GradyWhite with Twin Engines for safety along with The best Coresound X2 layout boats. If your truly looking for the best dollar for dollar Quality hunt its no comparison, If your looking to go brant hunting most days at $800 a day and live in a 900 sq ft crowded house with 6-8 others and go10- 20 miles out into Coldbay in a single engine boat everyday have a ball with Jeff. Wish you all the best Look at both companies Face book pages and watch the client hunts it tells the real truth. It looks to me by the Hunters holding up Trophies on his updated Facebook page and Instagram that he's doing a fine job and puts up allot more Great hunt pictures than anyone else.
