I've wanted a .308 cal semi-auto hunting rig for a few years but I didn't want the weight that the LR308's and other .308 AR style rifles came with and I also didn't want a traditional hunting rifle. 2-3 years ago DPMS came out with the second generation .308 that was newly engineered and lighter, with lighter and smaller BCG's, components, etc and since I didn't have any AR style rifles I figured "hey, why not?". I picked up my new rifle from an online retailer and slapped a night vision scope on it. Its intended use is as a hog gun and possibly deer/muleys/elk when the time comes. I dont trust digital scopes for long shots so I will replace it with a Nikon when it comes to hunting longer ranges for muley and elk, but until then...... Sorry I don't have any "classy" pictures of it, but this is it just after I installed the NV scope at the kitchen table, ha. DPMS G2 .308 Recon Hopefully I will have a "results" image soon that I can throw on the site

Have been really happy with mine! Same here. Mine is on a hand-load, and it does a fine job. It has laid the smack down on lots of hogs by now.

colt45:
Its advertised as 8.5 in its stock configuration. The Scope is listed as 2.5 if I remember correctly, but I dont know for sure. I know that the scope seems darn heavy and I dont want to do a long walk with this thing anywhere. Based on my hand scale alone, I am assuming the scope weight is minus the batteries. If/When I ever do a spot and stalk, I'll be swapping out the scope for a much lighter, non-digital scope.
