Anyone use a 940nm wave length light with night vision? If so can you see red at end of light? Maybe have a good one to recommend?

I was looking into this as well. I have not used one but from what I have read you can not see the red in the light like you can on an 850nm. However, they don't seem to work as well on some night scopes as the 850nm does unless you get a really hight output light.
Funny thing about getting older: Your eyesight starts getting weaker but your ability to see through people's BS gets much better.

I never got any answers so I broke down and bought a 940nm. I turned it on and has a real slight glow. The 840 has more glow. And this light worked out to over 300 yards. Don't know if it shines further because of a tree line. Still has that hint of glow though. Maybe its not true 940? No idea

are you using it for scanning or mounting it for a scope?

Critters can't see the glow. I use a 940nm and I have been as close as 10 yards from deer walking past my blind and not alerted them.
They make ammo specifically for hunting for a reason!

Don't look directly into the light. It will burn your eyes just like any other bright light. If you need to look into the lens to see if it is on, look from the side.

940's do have a glow, but hogs, deer and coyotes cannot see it

I bought one. It works well. Haven't scared any animals off with it ...

The light I have says 201 anyone know about it? Haven't used it much. I can only see faint red if I put my hand right in front of it. Like 2" in front

A lot dimmer than 850 but still visible. They CAN still see it but not as well.
