I use a 12 and a 16 but I don't have that much ammo any more for the 16....

If past seasons are any indication I'll mostly be shooting tail feathers. Ba Domp Bing!  But seriously. Mostly a 12 since I've hoarded, er, acquired more shells for it but hopefully will get a chance to alter the flight plan of a few dove with my 20 also.

An 870 12 gauge with a Briley choke tube, either mod or full. My son will shoot the exact same set up or the trusty A5 Browning in 12 gauge full.

how do i vote if I am using a 12ga gun with a 7/8oz load thats equal to a 20ga

It's still a 12ga. Those loads can be made a lot hotter (faster) than a 20ga and they will most likely pattern better without a lot of work.
