Got a Email Blast yesterday from EuroOptic taking pre orders for their delivery of the new Mauser Model 18 @ $699. Not much info, just a Glamour Shot that looks like it came from a Mauser Ad, and a decent but limited caliber list, that included 6.5 CM's but not a 7-08 that I think is a bit strange. Calibers listed run from 243 to 300WMg.
The rifle is not shown in a close up, but appears to be a base level blue & black composite stocked rifle about like a Tikka T3x Lite would be. Also seems funny to me that the 6.5CM is being offered but not a 6.5x55 Swede or 7x57 Mauser. So the Creedmore is Officially the king of the 6.5's now I guess...time for Hornady?? to do a 7mmCM don'tcha think??
Saw where Hornady is supposed to offer 7x64 brass this year & and someone else besides Hornady is doing loading data online for that "newcomer", which ia about like a 280 Remington round's data apparently. The more things change...the more they stay the same. Ron

Interesting. I agree that not having a chambering in 7-08 seems a bit strange.

Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

Clearly aimed at the US market. It had better be a damned good shooter at that MSRP, or it will never compete.

I think the Mauser M12 and Sauer 101 are made in the same Blaser owned plant with allot of the same parts. Sauer recently came out with the cheaper 100. I think one could probably read reviews about it and get a good idea what to expect from the M18.

Hwy Man...interesting that you mentioned 7x64...Hornady has listed 7x64 and several more looking forward for demand brass selections for the line in 2018 like 6mmCM and 6.5PRC...pull up the Hornady home page and drill down for Product 2018 and see what all in several categories like bullets and brass will be intro'd.
My only question on some of these like 7WSM & 7SAUM brass is how often will they make inventory and be able to keep it in stock year round. Some more ELDX bullet too.
Oh and look at the on line loading manual for 7x64 data too, that is also s'posed to be listed in the hardbound paper Manual too. Ron

I did some reading up on it. The features/quality of rifles in the $300-400 price range, plus the stamp of a name that they think is worth a premium.
My prediction is that the M18 will be an American flop...

You may be right, but it's hard to tell what it's really like when all you know about it is on paper.
