John I bought 2 last year and they do work. I can not count how many times the dove would try to land ON or so near the MOJO that I couldn't shoot because I would hit the MOJO. They also attract all other birds as well, you will have every kind of bird there is around you.
PS it would not surprise me if the state didn't out law them.

MOJO for sure!! I’m buying my own this year so I don’t have to sit close to NDhunter who has one! We had a flock of teal come’in on us last year and we couldn’t scare them off! Lucky for those teal it was out of season for them, we had lead anyway for dove. But they definitely work!!!

They are excellent around watering tanks, like someone said they will try to land on or near the mojo. Also work good in the fields but tanks are great.

I have been using them for two years now. This will be the third season. They work great! It's almost not fair!

I agree. I have used one for the last three seasons. They work very well. I get my limit about every time I go out. The one time I didn't the battery went dead and they would not get close to it. So buy one and see for yourself. You will agree after you use one.

I think they work ok, It's not like a roboduck where it will turn dove 90-180 degrees back toward the decoy but if they are fly toward you and you have it in an open area they work good. Dove seem to fly in a straight line most of the time.

they do work well, like said above the higher you get them above the weeds and grass the better they work, this year we are going to use some poles that I made that put them about 7 to 8 foot in the air.

JohnM,
I have been using decoys for 25 years now. I have been using the mojo dove since it came out. (I modified the power source). I also use a dove call. Of the three, the dove call works the worst. I can call in single birds but I have been able to turn only one flight of about 50 birds. I can tell you when I use just the decoys, they work okay. If I use just the mojo, It is hit and miss. If I use the decoys with the mojo, (and take the time to do it right), it is a deadly combination. ESPECIALLY during 2nd season when the birds are really bunched up and flying in flights of 20 or more, at once.
I hope this helps. Good luck! If you would like to come day hunt, after opening weekend, let me know via PM!

Looks like Cruffler uses a combo from the pics above. Bandit, what do you mean "doing it right"? I need all the help I can get.

Guy,
You have asked the $64K question. It would be easier and quicker to explain in person (at the lease) or on the telephone (not really, but I would try).
I will give it a try here!
First, I want to determine if the birds are flying in any sort of a pattern, by that I mean, the birds are flying in a certain direction and/or over a landmark. On my lease that could be any number of places. Wind blowing hard, slightly or calm also factors into the pattern.
Second, I will look for a place to set up my decoy spread that enhances or blends in with that pattern. (clear as mud?) OH, by the way did I mention my lease is under a flyway? I have no food, only gravel and water, the food is to the north and to the south of me. So, it can be a challenge to get the birds to fly into my spread.
2A Using the decoys/mojo (I use 24+ decoys and 1 mojo, but the more decoys and mojos you have, the better) for enhancing the pattern: If the birds are flying in bunches, versus 1 to 5 birds, I will try and make my decoy spread look like they are resting/roosting along a fence line or in trees that have few leaves. I will place the mojo in such a way as to make it look like it is landing on the fenceline/tree(s) and I will use a 6 ft pole to get it up in the air. I also like to set up some decoys at a 90 degree angle to the flight path. Also, a key factor is placing the mojo/decoys into the wind. Dove do not like to take off with the wind unless they absolutely have to.
2b If the pattern is 1 to 5 birds I will spread the decoys out to cover more area and I will put the mojo so it looks like it is landing (into the wind) on the ground and I will put decoys on the ground around the mojo.
Third, I will place hunters in strategic spots around the decoys. I make sure we are far enough apart so as not to get peppered. We let the birds come to the decoys and get shots at them coming into the field and then leaving the field. I like to put the best shots where the birds are exiting the field.
I hope this helps. There are variations to the above tactics and I have seen the birds respond well and I have seen em not respond at all. You gotta go with your gut and your experience.
Here is another tip: If you hunt where dove land to feed, i.e. sunflower or wheat field, do NOT chase after the birds. Set your spread up where they are entering/exiting the field. If you hunt the edges of the field and stay away from where they are feeding, the dove will continue to come back to feed there, because they feel safe, and not move on to greener pastures (move south).
If anyone has questions. let me know and I will pm you my phone number.

Mainly because it is illegal Page 62 of the Outdoor Annual: • Baiting for game animals, nongame animals, and game birds is lawful on private property, except for turkey in certain East Texas counties (see pg. 67) and migratory game birds statewide.
