I don't give it much thought because it's none of my business.

I understand the need for the latest and greatest equipment. What I cannot understand is the need to use a black rifle with 30 round magazine to deer hunt. Surely, no one in his right mind thinks that a whitetail is going to stick around while you continue to shoot and miss. What do you hunt with? I want to make sure I’m doing it right.

A lot of it is what I call the "Rambo Factor", somebody missed their war, so they dress up like they are going to battle the zombies. Everyone knows that to battle zombies you need 50 round "clips", a low slung side arm and wear full camo. That chit doesn't look good carrying a woodstocked Savage 110, it has to be the latest civilian version of an AR with a stock by Mattel. Somebody gets the point! Why do you care what someone else hunts with? How does this impact you in any way?

I love all of the Fudd Grandpa's on here. Y'all should stick to shooting your ol' 30-30 once a year at the range, call your garbage Remington Core-Lokt ammo "shells", and be happy with "minute of paper plate" accuracy.
I'm going to hunt with a tricked out AR, in 223 Wylde, suppressed, with a 30 round pmag from now on...
Edited to Add - Nice troll OP, i'm impressed.

If we paint the black rifle brown, and drop the 30 rounder for a 20 round magazine, would you be able to understand that?

minute of paper plate" accuracy. I actually seen a group of guys do just that at alpine gun range this year couldn’t believe it quite funny.

Like its been said,,the collapsible stock is awesome for young hunters and they are great in the blind due to the short length. The suppressor isn't cool, its quite on the ears in the blind and have ya ever thought maybe, just maybe there is only 3 or 4 rounds in that 30 round mag, to help make it lighter for that young hunter. Just saying. Think before ya spout off.

Surely, no one in his right mind thinks that a whitetail is going to stick around while you continue to shoot and miss. For the life of me I don't understand why people people keep questioning perfectly legal and ethical use of gear. I don't understand why they seem to think they need to limit themselves to slow firing and very limited capacity bolt action guns or why they think other hunters should be similarly outfitted. Surely, no one in his right mind who goes on a "deer hunt" in Texas believes for a moment that deer are going to be the only opportunity, particularly given the number of hogs and coyotes we have. You would be amazed how many deer (hogs, and coyotes) stand around when you are shooting suppressed, or how far they don't run in many cases when shooting suppressed. Never mind the benefits to hunter safety and the reduced sonic disturbance to the immediate area. I will tell you what. You hunt with what you want to hunt with and worry about your own hunt. If you want to use a beat up, rusty old single shot pitted bore black powder muzzle loader, knock yourself out and I won't question why you would choose such antiquated and inferior gear and you don't worry about the latest and greatest gear that others of us are using.

If, rather than black, the tool is burnt bronze and the magazine holds 20 rounds (may or may not mean it contains that quantity), would that help you feel better?

I have over a dozen rifles, none of them are black. All of them have wood stocks. My favorites are Pre-64 Winchesters. My usual deer rifle, a Ruger #!, .257 Roberts. I do not have hogs on my ranch and I damn sure do not want any...

I've seen the same questions pop up when it was longbow vs compound vs crossbow. Then there is the whole in-line muzzle loader vs traditional and now bolt action vs AR platforms. IMO, I'd rather see the person hunt with what their comfortable shooting as long as it's legally and ethically done. As someone commented earlier, we are our own worst enemies.

There are times I need to , but I can't remember when I wanted to . But it's my choice, and it's nice to see others are concerned about my wants and my needs.

Started taking good friend of mine hunting he is older than me by 2 years. Unlike me he did not start hunting when young he had not killed deer we were 52 and 54 I invite him hunting he shows up with Ar 10 looks kinda awkward to me for hunting but got the job done on his first deer. He had lots questions when and how to hunt? How to field dress what to do with meat? He ask one day what gun to get for hunting I pondered for a couple days and told him my first choice for him would be 30-06 but since he has .308 to get bolt gun in .308 he loves the bolt gun for hunting deer and the ar for pigs at night. He is also bow now hunting and got his first nice buck with his bow last year. I don't care what he hunts with but am glad to have another friend to hunt with. He now invites me bow hunting on some great land that is in his family in Hopkins County. You leave someone alone let them decide what they hunt with give advice when ask good things seem to happen!
I know allot about everything-Everything about nothing!!!!

AMEN Buck 25-06 . where i grew up we could only use shotgun and then moved back to texas and always used a bolt action rifle for deer till about five years ago i started using my AR and like that its lighter and that the stock is adjustable. Whats NOT to like? Now due to health problems i didnt get to hunt this year at all. Trust me when i say there are lots of things worse than worrying about what kind of gun somebody else uses.

Chocktaw: You probably did not read my original post in it's entirety. I simply stated that I could not understand why some individuals chose to use black rifles with 30 round magazines to DEER HUNT. Exactly what is condescending, rude or intolerant with that statement?? (I did not have to use a dictionary). You are free to use ANY rifle you want, if your favorite is a 50mm Browning, go for it. Still does not explain the reasoning for a large capacity magazine on a rifle used to hunt deer (unless you are a terrible marksman?)

I would bet 99.999999% of Black Rifles come with a 20 or 30 round magazine in the box, explaining the why most Black Rifles have 20 or 30 round magazines when they go afield. Now you know why.
