That is so funny you mention that. Rigby just came out with its Highland Stalker rifle and I am swooning over the dang thing. .275 Rigby (7x57 Mauser) is the signature caliber and it is basically modeled after Corbett’s rifle.

Believe a while back the cabelas buda fancy gun room had one or a few. Just another one of those calibers that is forgotten about when the new flashy stuff comes along.

I am actually thinking about one in a 9.3x62. IMO that would be a perfect dangerous game rifle.

I know where there's a Lipsey's Ruger 77 African in .275 Rigby. It's been bugging me.

I know where there's a Lipsey's Ruger 77 African in .275 Rigby. It's been bugging me. There was also a Ruger #1. Think they were made for Dallas Safari Club or Dallas Arms Collectors. Can't remember but another forum member has one and showed it to me.

I think I read somewhere that the .275 Rigby had a bore diameter of .288" instead of the .284" of the 7x57.

NP,
that is a beautiful looking rifle. Treat yourself, seriously. 7x57 is a very nice hunting round and a well built Mauser is a real treat to use. Buy and use the heck out of it.
Better to have one great rifle that you really love rather than several that are just ok, probably less cost in the long run too.

In all candor, as I have gotten older the trend has definitely been towards fewer, better rifles. I have sold and/or traded several guns over the past few years to that end. I have handled Rigby’s PH and other lines. I love everything about them, but was able resist the urge to buy one because of their size/weight. This little rifle appears to be pure magic. As Buzz mentioned, I’ll be checking them out at the DSC show in a few days.

I think I read somewhere that the .275 Rigby had a bore diameter of .288" instead of the .284" of the 7x57. It was the 275 H&H and the 280 Ross that had the .288 bore. The 275 Rigby IS the 7x57.

Correct, I was thinking of the .275 H&H and the bore was apparently .287" not .288".

I handled Corbetts rifle while I was at Rigby in London. Nice gun. Chris Barrett is doing a fieldcraft in 275 Rigby but it's special order.

Got a 7x57 and a 6.5 Swede, and I'm having a very difficult time deciding which I like best. I guess that's a good problem to have, right?
Edited to add: I did order some 7x57 brass a while back. It came in and it's headstamped .275 Rigby.
