Took my son the first time at 2. He is 3 now and seems to be doing much better at staying quiet the past few times we have gone. Shot a hog with him earlier this year and that was all he talked about for a few days was shooting a piggy with daddy
It's hell eatin em live

I'm with you. Great job Dad. I started taking my son also when he was 2. I had to put up the bow, change from lock-on stands to box blinds and go back to rifle but worth every minute. By the time he was 5 we were building and hunting 2 person ladder stands and taught him safety all the time and ALWAYS wear our safety harnesses. He has been my hunting buddy now for 21 years, graduating college and as celebration we're going on black bear hunt right after graduation. My how time passes so quickly. Enjoy every minute with those boys and girls.

Started with my Grandson when he was 4. They wouldn't let him go until then. He had his BB gun and I had my 30-06. He got to take the first shot. If it wasn't a clean kill, I had to finish it off. He's now, 19, 6 ft 4", and has never stopped loving to hunt and fish. He has a best friend who is also always around. If they hear me shoot, they come and pick up the deer or hog, haul it to the house and start working on it while I sit and watch them do what I taught them.
Without a sense of urgency, nothing ever happens.
Boy, if I say "sic em", you'd better look for something to bite. Sam Shelley, Rancher Muleshoe Texas 1892-1985 RIP
