Any laws against someone just making a makeshift septic sysytem out in the middle of nowhere burying it 5-6ft below ground vs. draining and toting black water to a dump station every time? Still using items such as rid-x and bio blue for odor and breakdown.
Aside from the laziness factor. Any particular rules / regulations?

I suspect a lot of guys here are using systems similar to what you described. Whether or not they all pass local ordinances is another matter. Not sure, but perhaps the proximity of these systems to human water sources might be a deciding factor.

^^^ Doesn't surprise me. Texas is the trashiest that Ive ever seen right now. Unbelievably so. We drove from Dallas to Erath, then down 281 yesterday to New Braunfels. This state has become a dump. Sad for this native Texan. What happened to, "Don't mess with Texas"? Guess it's just a feel good slogan that means nothing.

Weird thing is, we drove to New Orleans a few months back and hardly any trash. Same with Arkansas, when we were there last year. Pristine highways. Texas is filthy.

If your County is like mine, no rules outside the city limits of the county seat unless you are within a certain distance of a lake, then Septic Systems have to be aerobic and permitted.
The Federal Government cannot give anything to anyone, that it has not first taken from someone else.

best to check with county regs Call the courthouse and ask for the person handling septic system permits...I would not necessarily give them my full name or property address Strangely enough, an outhouse is sometimes the only 'legal'option, outside of a fully permitted system installed by a licensed contractor. Outhouse In rural counties, it is often legal to install a state code compliant septic system yourself, without permits or inspections, as long as you do 100% of the work yourself.
We all need to practice Whoa more.

Our landowner approved ours. Good enough! We had to jackhammer through rock to get our two tanks in so nothing is seeping out. I have to kick the sprinkler pumps on every trip they fill up quick. We have a shower, sink, and toilet going in.

Sorry for hijacking your thread over the trash issue. It's just very painful to see all the filth that accumulates on our roads....I installed a 250 gallon tank from TSC added a lateral line to it with perforated drainage, covered that in Tyvek, covered with crushed rock and cliche. Haven't had a problem in 10 years. I do get the tank pumped out every couple of years just in case. Vacuum truck costs about $125 per trip

We had a guy in Taylor County install them for $2000 each. We tried to use the old one from the house that burned down, but it kept filling up. Single tank with lateral lines laid over a gravel bed.

everyone make the back of there trucks, trash cans. Then drive down the highway. Everything blows out I don't buy that excuse. The wind isn't blowing old tires, couches, and full bags of trash out of trucks. We have a cultural issue here with people thinking it's ok for someone else to take care of their problem. Trash on the roads is just one sign of it.

Trash on the roads is just one sign of it. True. When we first started our "Adopt-a-hwy" program on our place, as soon as the signs went up people threw MORE trash out for us to pick up. We clean 8 miles of roadway near our gate entrance. Its a constant struggle to maintain.

You also see a spike in trash after the first couple of weeks of deer season.
To be determined

My place is located in Dickens county. I contacted the county to obtain codes for septic systems
I was advised that I was outside of city limits and no codes were applicable.
We dug a 6 foot deep hole by 6 ft square and lined the interior walls with cinder blocks to support the dirt walls. We kept the holes in the blocks vertical for the first 3 ft then had the holes horizontal for the balance. I found a heavy duty galvanized metal shed roof for a cover. 2 of us are there about 4 months a year and we have up to 6 guests for a week at time. I have 6 2 ft diam. holes x 6 ft deep filled with gravel in for grey water run off. No detergent in sewer tank. Been 6 years and so far no issues.

There is a state code on septic systems. You have to get a perc test to judge how much septic line you need. That said I would I would imagine that there are as many non tested septic systems out there in rural areas as tested ones.

I've sometimes wondered why I must be so careful with a septic system for my trailer when there are literally hundreds of cow patties in the pasture behind it at any given time.

There are specific laws. Google TCEQ septic laws and you will get all the info you want.
