The wood that smells good. Make sure it has these kind of leaves on them.

I'm positive, anything with Spanky should be looked over for dripping. Could cause some health problems.

Hickory or mesquite.....if you could find apple or pecan that would be fantabulous.

You can find pecan at just about any Kroger or Albertson’s here in Dallas. You can just drive by, and look for the “yellow” bags out front to see if they them in stock ($10 a bag). I think the purple bags are mesquite and the red bags are hickory. But go pecan though brotha, there is no during back!!! There is also a wood yard on 75 north of 121 a ways, can remember how far, but you can get it there too for a better price.

Big Johns wood yard is on 377 out past Beenbrook. That is where all the bagged wood comes from they specialize in bbq woods. Have just about any you would want to try.

I would go with RATMO's suggestion, and maybe add a little oak wood, it gives it a good flavor. Some of the best Lora and I ever had was up in Colorado and it had been smoked over apple wood. I have tried both hickory and pecan, and just prefer mesquite. JMO
