Currently in a 10ft tower in Young County and feel I could use another couple of feet up to better my vantage point. Anyone have preference in tower heights given the terrain in North Central Texas area?

We have 10-12 foot towers. I do like sitting up higher, but we try to keep all of our stands short enough to not be visible from public roads, so that's about the limit for us.

Put a "porch" on the thing, for safety's sake.

I guess it depends on where you are. My blind is on a 4” tower. Gets me up plenty high to see over everything in the area.

10 ft. tower should put eyes at about 14 ft, how much taller you wanna go? Put a skylight in the roof and make a gun turret. Then 16 feet in air.

I have 2 15' towers on my place in Murray. Have a lot of bull mesquites with thick cover and a pretty flat topography so it does help a lot. I did not skimp on my towers and do have a porch and are as safe as you can buy IMO.

We have two 20fters. Man they are nice, we can see forever from that high. We talk and and make plenty of noise up there and deer never even look our way.

Be careful how tall you make them. I have hunted in a buddies blind that is super tall and overlooks an area of lower elevation. It is actually hard to shoot at anything inside of 100 yards because of the angle.

I cut the tower in half to make 2 towers and works much better!

Finally sat a ground blind on the place and it was night and day different, the place had a brows line that allowed you to see a long way when in a tower stand you wouldn't be able to see any of it.

Different heights for different locations.
Most are 5' or 6' tall with 4x4 blinds so you can still look UNDER the large tree limbs.
I have one that 4x8 on 12' tower overlooking a creek bottom that is about 300 yards wide x 200 yards deep. This height lets you see over brush and still see under the tall trees on creek.
My main stand is an insulated and carpeted 4x8 on 16' tower with 4'x3' porch and 3x3 angle iron stairs up to it. This area is mostly low mesquites and you can watch 4 fairly active feeders from this stand.
