Buzz..... My 10 yo son took a 10 point WT about a month ago shooting the 143gr ELD-X out of his 6.5 creedmor. Shot was 83yds, broadside with his head to the left, rear to the right. When my son shot I was watching through my binocs. When he fired I was 100% convinced he missed as I did not see impact nor the deer flinch as though he had been hit. The buck did not run, yet took 6-8 slow steps after the shot and paused by a bush. As he was chambering another round while I was screaming at him to because he missed, the death wobble began and down he went. Bullet placement was mid height directly behind the shoulder. Impact wound was pinky size, exit wound was half dollar size. Upon gutting the buck, he blew straight through the lungs and liver. From looking at the lung and liver and the amount of destruction and the size of the exit wound I was happy with the apparent bullet expansion.
These 143gr ELD-X were the Hornady factory match loads one can purchase off the shelf. I don't know what "real" ballistic data is on them just the printed nonsense on the outside of the box. He is shooting a Browning X-Bolt.

I had two customers out last week shooting 6.5 Creedmoor each. Both were using Hornady ammo. On their boxes, it was listed at 2700 fps MV. And according to their trajectory to 800 yards, that velocity is true.

Yep, 143 grain ELD-X. About 265 yards bang flop. Very slightly quartering away, 2760fps.

Here is a list of the animals and distance I have seen or shot myself in the last month with the 143gr ELD-x 7x7 elk @ 175yds- reload Cow elk @150 yds- reload 148’ buck @75 yds- factory 151’ buck at 30 yds factory 201’ buck at 250 yds- factory Doe @90yds- factory doe@372yds- factory Doe @70 yds- factory Doe @ 472 yds- factory
Yesterday I used the 135 Berger Classic bullet loaded in the 6.5 SAUM 4s to take a Red Stag that was so old he only had one tooth left. Also shot three does 498/702/80 yards and then a Buck that will go about 145-150 at 355 yards. On the Whitetails all were pass-thru’s

42.4? I don't get it P Jason skipped 42.4 in his ladder list..... but it’s because he knows that 42.4 is the sweet spot and wants you to figure it out on your on...

I skipped it, because he already has it listed. I said "don't forget". I have had a 6.5 Creedmoor shoot phenomenal at 42.4 gr. Then I switched powder lots, and the new load shot the same velocity, and the same consistency at 42.8 gr. I expect them to shoot at 42.4 gr, but I don't want to leave out a better load, I just didn't bother to test. All due to lot-to-lot variance. Bottom line is, test from 42.0 to 43.0gr H-4350, every time, with a 140 gr bullet.

my buddy uses them in factory loads, hes killed about 10 deer and pigs, all complete pass throughs and most DRT, the few that ran left massive blood trails for 30 yds or so. I havent tried them cause factory 125 gr xp,s shoot fantastic in my rifle, i killed one buck so far ,complete pass through and he folded right there. I killed a few with btsp.s with mixed results 2 no pass throughs, one bullet seperated, but all DRT

I'm looking into using 143 ELD-x next year. I got my rig set up late this year and didn't have time to look into factory loads so ended up using what academy have on the shelf, which was Federal non-typical 140gr. At the range I was grouping around .5 MOA and the one Doe I put down only ran 50 yards. After having time to read on the 65creedmore forums. Seems the 143 ELD-x is a home favorite so I think that will be my next trip to the range and if my gun likes the factory 143 ELD-x I'll be using it next year.

Shooting the 143 ELD-X in a couple of 260's. Using 4831SC powder (don't recall the charge weight off the top of my head) getting 2825 fps at the muzzle on my target rifle with the 26 inch barrel. Haven't chrono'd it yet out of my CTR with the 20 inch barrel, but the same load is shooting .75 inch groups at 100 yards and I didn't see a need to work up something different for a hunting rifle. Definitely passes the "minute of deer" test. Only one shot fired at a whitetail doe and it was DRT. Good terminal performance with a lot of internal damage to the organs.
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

Update - Used the CTR to take a spike on Saturday. 120 yard shot on a walking deer quartering slightly towards me. Shot went directly through the heart doing a massive amount of internal damage. Entry hole was dime sized and exit was quarter sized. Deer managed to go about 15 yards before he fell over. Not much blood trail, but I'm not surprised since there was literally no heart left to pump the blood out. I hung the deer before I gutted it, and when I opened the chest cavity there was about a gallon of blood that poured out.
Two shots on deer with the 143 ELD-X with one DRT and the other a near DRT. So far I'm really liking this round for both targets and hunting.
