Lost good one 2 years ago hearing it was game warden that cut me out. I was stoped by him coming out had never seen this guy here before but he was very inquisitive couple weeks later found out place was leased out from under me. The game warden told me that it was two guys that had all this ladies other land leased I could no longer get in touch with her she wouldn't take my calls so I took my good stands sold them what was left and got off place. Now I'm hearing that it was actually the game warden that actually leased it and then he sublet back to these guys I don't know that I heard it from a police officer and from my nephew my nephew hunts on the place north of them.I had that place 13 years and killed a good trophy every year guess I can't complain but I did get a better place 1 mile north of there. Some of the other hunters close we're getting jealous because I can hunt a lot not my fault I'm just able to now. They also had issues with taking my grandkids hunting they were some real management oriented guys .
I know allot about everything-Everything about nothing!!!!

Sometimes it takes a good while to get over losing a lease.
Thursday at 12:45 PM #33 Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

Got on a great lease for the season. We mostly just want to quail hunt the property. I guess the landowner recently learned about how he could lease to quail hunters for after deer season so he told us we can’t quail hunt after deer season now...he’s already leased it to some folks from outta state. Honestly that was the whole point. Hard to find the right lease with good people. I know a great rancher who is a pleasure to deal with and KEEPS his word but he likes to overgraze his property’s and that doesn’t work well. We leased from him for a few years but he. Destroyed the land with his cattle.

Lost one years ago to a corporation that outbid us and paid 5 years up front. It was their "B" lease for customers and had no rules, just let the sales guys go wild. In 5 years the LO begged us to come back. My brother is still on it , 31 years later.
A few years ago, wildfires tore through south of Ozona and then my older friend that was on that lease passed away. 'Wasn't interested in getting back on with the remaining "manager" and his mean-drunk son once the land started to recover.
Like the place I'm on now very much, but realize that you should never assume any lease is even semi-permanent. Always be prepared to gather your kit and move on.

My buddy got kicked off a lease when the property was sold out from under him and a bunch of others. They had to be gone during the middle of deer season as the new owners were not going to honor the lease. The old owner didn't want to refund money and everyone leasing was too far away to take the guy to court. All the lease holders were extremely mad. I got a nice box stand out of the deal, however.

Ok the saddest one. Had 3500a in Sonora. Unlimited axis and mld whitetail. Had a house and a huge barn to store vehicles. Walk in cooler. 1700 per gun got you your own 350 acres section for all year round. We hunted year round to cause you could always kill axis..
Owner was so cool he would come hang out at the camp with us. He died one day and his kids are day leasing it now

When I was a kid, back in the '70s, before deer hunting had even turned into the money driven mess it is now, extended family hunted on 2 pastures totaling 3,500 acres. One of my uncles was the ranch Foreman. Landowner died. One of his kids told my Uncle we were out......,at the funeral. After that: oil company paid WAY more than we were. Another time my brother and I got the boot after landowner got a divorce, and wifey ended up with the place we were on. Thank God everyday that I own my own place now.
Thank you...thank you very much

I had a lady customer (recently divorced), when I was selling heavy equipment. Shet owned a dairy farm with a lot of property attached to it. I was 23 and she was 42 and built like a Brick [censored].. She was in great shape and worked her butt off every day on the dairy. The lady was endowed like she could have nursed several of the calves by herself. She was always a flirt and let me hunt on the property. She had the cash and traded her dairy equipment in on a regular basis. One evening we got very friendly and it lasted for over a year. She was great and would show up at myt house with home cooked meals for me and my roommates several times a week. I graduated and got a different sales job in Oklahoma. She came to visit a few times but it eventually ended. I bet I could still make a hunting trip down there but she probably wouldn’t look the same 20 years later.
That’s the best hunting place I ever lost.

One of our club members had an affair with the land owner daughter (see was married and of age) to our surprise. When the land owner found out we were all kicked off! They eventually both got divorced and now are married so gets to hunt the farm again.

I was on a lease that blew up after a legal battle between the landowners, who are all heirs of the original owner. They're still fighting years later and the place hasn't been leased since.

One of his kids told my Uncle we were out......,at the funeral. Classy. I have a very distant relative like that. Greed incarnate. With all their grubbing, they don't have squat.

That’s the best hunting place I ever lost. Didn't Garth Brooks, back in the '90's, sing a song based on this?

The only leases I've ever had bad dealings with were through brokers. No more brokers for me.

I just lost my Kerr County spot yesterday. Landowner sold the ranch. Heartbreaking loss. This spot was covered in whitetail and axis. Now I'm moving all my stuff up to my Smith County lease
