We have absolutely no cattle on our 96 acres. It is heavy south Texas brush. There is some cattle in nearby ranches, but the cattle is not immediately next to us. I've been hearing an animal or two making cattle sounds at night and in the mornings. Am I hearing deer?
If you want some friendly advice, get a haircut and take a bath. You wouldn't get hassled so much.

If you are hearing 'cattle' sounds, then logically... its cattle you are hearing.
They make all manner of noises day and night. Albeit....less at night...as many will bed down for longer periods, but our cattle get up every few hours to feed day or night.
Cattle will vocalize at ANY time.
Spartans ask not...how many, but where!

Deer don't make cow noises. 96 acres is not an area sufficiently large that you would not hear cattle from other properties. In addition, the sound of a bawling cow can carry quite a distance.

Could be one of your neighbors has a fence jumping cow or two. One of our neighbors cows is on our place almost every day and danged if I can find out where she's jumping the fence.

96 acres isn't that far across......even if you are on one side and they are on the other......

This^^^ The place I hunt on has cattle on the ranch next door and where we hunt it's larger than your 96 acres and I would swear at times they are right in the brush. Sound carries a long way early and late.
Thursday at 12:45 PM #33 Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

Wind also plays a big part, if the wind is blowing from the cows to you it will really carry the sound.

Could be calves that have been separated from their mommas. Lots of noise from both sides of the fence.

An old goob I kwew quite a while back said a bull walked under his stand making moo sounds at the break of day and his buddy shot it doing the same thing. It was a 14 point buck. It was grunting. Deer pigs and cows all have a low tone. Deer being the hardest to hear from a distance. Pigs are loud at times and nasty loud cows, well you know. If your neighbor has a HF it could be anything. He may have a dumb bull and could be jackin with you too.
Recently got a gym membership, strange folks! I like to show up the roid zombies with my full motion curls with the 55lb. bells. Not their cheater short stroked light weights. It's holarious.

Sometimes in the morning I am pretty sure I hear pigs off in the distance, then I realize it is my stomach talking to me
