I'm not surprised. Every hunting show "celebrity" is always trying to one up the other.
I haven't watched one in years. And won't anytime soon.

I'm not surprised. Every hunting show "celebrity" is always trying to one up the other.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

Not that I care but what did he do that was wrong? As far as I know I can legally go shoot two bucks in a hunt. I think his choice of shot placement on the second was poor at best, I wouldn't take that shot.

I never heard of him until I saw all the posts and comments about him shooting two deer in Indiana, which is a one deer state. I'm happy that the majority of the hunting community is standing together and condemning his actions.
As for hunting shows, I dealt with one on an Idaho elk hunt that turned out to be the worse hunting experience that I've ever had. The outfitter ignored everyone but the TV people. If a guide saw animals in one place, the TV people went there the next day. They got shots every day, but never connected. The excuses became a running joke at the lodge. What would the make up this time. It was so bad that not a single hunter got an animal. I agreed to come back for another week for free, when everyone else started demanding refunds. It got pretty bad towards the end of the week.

From what I've read on other forums: Landowner told him to shoot a 10 point and leave a nice eight point because the eight point was only two years old. He shot the eight point anyway. Then, almost immediately after shooting the eight point, according to the video, he reloads the muzzle loader and shoots the 10 point in the butt, and you can see it trying to drag itself away because it's back legs are paralyzed. He also never tracked the eight point and didn't tell the landowner he shot it. I've also seen where he waited until the next afternoon to track the 10 pointer, so the meat was spoiled (the footage from the 10 was used in his show). The hunt took place in a state or county where it's only legal to take one buck (allegedly). The landowner apparently posted a video to FaceBook with more evidence, but Chris keeps getting it pulled down. Also, there is a separate video of Chris treating his cameraman very poorly, swearing at him and calling him retarded. I've seen it, and it's not a good look. It was also on FaceBook but the videos keep getting pulled down quickly.

I don't watch hunting shows and have never heard of Chris Brackett. I did google his name and found a long thread on archery talk. Sounds like he has (or had) a pretty big following, but also a reputation for being a jerk. It caught up with him and evidently several sponsors have dropped him and now his show is being pulled from airing.
For me, I really enjoy the short youtube clips of folks hunting hogs, but just can't get into shows where deer hunting has been commercialized by knuckleheads with no more hunting prowess than many people I know personally. It is about being in the right place at the right time, and the differentiation is the camera getting you invites for exactly that. Is that skill? Where is the work? The sweat? The time investment?
Just not a fan, and for this guy, certainly hope he gets his just desserts.
