Things have been going well for my son, he managed to get a little piggie and a buck at the Nannie Stringfellow Oct 7/8 hunt, and another piggie at the Gus Engeling Oct 28/29. We did see does on both days at Gus but none presented a good shooting opportunity.
At Nannie, it was so hot that he was in his trousers in the blind, not kidding! And at Gus, we camped on the grounds with a low of 27F overnight, talk about extremes!
This is the buck, it weighted 160 before gutting, and very close to 17" spread.
Vey proud of him!
Here's with his first buck taken at Colorado Bend on 2015:

Truly a blessing and great memories!! oh, and he bagged his first dove this season as well!!
It's been great having access to the public hunts, since I'm in no position to have a lease at the moment.
Hope next season is as good, or better than this one.
Be safe, have fun, and enjoy your time in the woods with your kids!!
